(reposting because last thread died)

I was looking for something along the lines of akzidenz-grotesk

some advice?

I did some research and found those interesting typefaces:

circular:
http://font2s.com/fonts/50876/circular_std_bold.html#.Vv8TBjaLRFQ

favorit:
http://warp.net/static/fonts/

analogue:
http://www.ingofonts.de/ingofonts/en/iF_Analogue.html

Also couldn't find any download for
"lab grotesque"
and
"nb international"

you should strive for perfection no matter what you make also challenge yourself (try something new and get out of your comfort zone for example). i liked the first pic but even that one could need some work on the final details. if you work your ass out not only you might end up with a better understanding of better conscious design choices and a faster idea-visualization and production but also a feasible digital library of works that could come in handy in the near future. gl.

Hello hello /gd/.

One year ago, I started a huge project called D3C1B3L B0T, it's a Twitter and Facebook bot that posts every 30mn a electronic music track (covering nearly every style), I'll put all my efforts again on it after finals.

Anyway, I changed the logo of this bot (old one was a shitty creation with gimp), any thoughts on it? It represents a D (for D3C1B3L) and I used the negative space to make it look like a play button.

If you like to check the bot just search D3C1B3L B0T on Google (can't post the link without making it looking...

Here's a first try, kept the play in negative space and added a b. The left arrow represents the fact it covers a great part of electronic music. Gonna work on others try today.

Hey guys, new designer here. I am in a bit of a bind. I got my first paid gig (paid internship withing a company). I am stuck designing business cards for my company but "targeted to the craft beer market". No direction, no instructions...when I ask questions like "what colors would you like...or do you think x is better than y" I just get" Just design them" and every design I have created so far is either "our cards are better" or "that is not craft beer enough"...but making a craft beer directed business card with a lime green,...

What do you think about this logo lads?

Too complicated. Consider that the logotype should be able to be scaled up to the size of a building without loosing too much content and be small enough that you still can see the details on the side of a pencil.

The font on its own would make for a better logo in your case. You just got too much going on. An emblem/egg thingie around the whole thing. With a face, and a cake, and a text. It's too much.

I strongly suggest you read Logo Design Love before attempting making logos.
>>
>>269261

It's complicated simplicity. I absolutely despise this kind of work. It's nothing more than trying to get away with lazy work.

Sorry bud.

Hello I'm new to photoshop and designing.
I need your expert opinion on what to add and remove.
Suggestion is very much welcome. This is for our logo for our airforce team. Its very bland looking. No worries for the colors since we the only need design. Thanks in advance /gd/

Take it out of photoshop and take it to/start from scratch in illustrator

That's a damn fine logo, I don't really know who told you to redesign it or why. A little ornate for my taste but there's an accepted visual language when it comes to military stuff and that pulls it off quite well.

48 KB,
So, long story short: I somehow really got preoccupied with recreating the authentic VHS tape look. Not chromatic aberration or "just shift channels", but the actual affect based on the way VCRs worked, because 99% of people got it all wrong. I do it out of pure enthusiasm. I'm not interested in various shortcuts like "just download this plugin" because they all look wrong to me, I'm interested in near-perfect emulation of the tape look just for the sake of it.

I read up on NTSC, YIQ/YUV, read up on VCRs, watched lots of VHS footage and...

Not really.
Emulating VHS properly is hard as fuck (you can try twitch or whatever plugin but it doesn't feel allright).
I think the go-to method isn't about recreating it but about doing so.

>Shoot whatever you want in a modern camera and get 2 VCRs.
>Make a VHS copy of your footage
>Make a copy of the copy
>Repeat till its degraded enough
>Capture the VHS...

Not OP but this is quite hard to control before you start getting color dropouts or even brightness shifts which are very annoying and make it hard to watch.

Not to mention you will be getting same artifacts with every new batch of passes. So that might turn boring fast. The variety of artifacting is probably related to old worn out or damaged tapes, faulty vcr mechanics. NTSC tapes also have less detail than PAL ones.

OP here.

My bad, looks like I've made a very dumb mistake… This snapshot I posted makes it look like the tape is "bleeding" to the right. But in fact it's just the lighting of the room in the shot.

Anyway, I think I'm close to finally understanding it… Right now what I make looks like pic related.
