In 2000 a group in Marvel consisting of Brian Michael Bendis, Warren Ellis, Joe Quesada, Grant Morrison, Mark Millar, and Bill Jemas launched a new line entitled Ultimate Marvel. The goal was to modernize and update the characters and stories from 616 for a new audience.
