That's what happens when you shelf a movie more than halfway through production and rework the whole concept.
If you're talking about the unfortunate art style, it fails to work because the cartoony characters clash with the photo-realistic backgrounds.
What went right?
It tries to do some new stuff and tells jokes. Not everything lands perfectly, but it's a different take.
