Ryan Coogler ("Fruitvale Station", "Creed") is reportedly in talks to direct BLACK PANTHER for Marvel Studios. He had already been linked to the past, but a report from Latino Review claimed he had declined on the project, which doesn't seem to be the case after all. Chadwick Boseman, Andy Serkis and Martin Freeman are already confirmed for the movie, which opens on February 16, 2018.

Are the Star Wars movies holding the IP back? Could something better be done with it without having to constrain events to fit the movies (which didn't really plan ahead - or behind)? Would you prefer an unconstrained and rich expanded universe across all media or a movie trilogy every ~20 years?
I only watch the movies, therefore they're what I care about.
The EU is nice but people put too much stock in it. The OT is still the best work from the entire franchise, it's the best blending off all of Lucas' disparate concepts and influences into one work. The focus a movie trilogy gives is what made the originals so spectacular. I don't think any other work in the entire franchise has ever combined Japanese samurai movies, 1940's serials and German expressionist cinema in the right balances like the OT did, and this includes the Prequel Trilogy.
I really enjoy the EU, but people who argue its somehow better...

Netflix's original shows are much better than they have any right to be.

Why? Because Kilgrave is a complete monster. Everyone knows it, including the narrative of the show. He is stated to be a rapist. Those who survive their encounters with him have PTSD. Some are wrecked beyond their ability to recover, physically or emotionally. He is a destroyer of lives…and the show demonstrates this by taking the toxic trope of the alpha male to its logical extreme.
