I just got labs back and my ldl cholesterol is fucking 230

What the fuck?! Thanks dad.

It's genetic, I'm an otherwise healthy man who could probably stand to lose ten pounds but who couldn't tbhonest.

So is my life of loving food over?

This board is populated by obese fast food junkies and reckless alcoholics with cholesterol of 250+ and blood pressure averaging 180. Half of them will probably live until they're 70 despite it. Not the best place to seek opinions on the matter.

Any idea how to make this toast (or similar) ?

you need a panini press op. a george forman grill works pretty well too. problem is they always have round, downward sloping tops so it is hard to keep a weight sitting on them.

Is rum & coke the vodka & red bull of Generation X?

i.e. is it the collegeboy cocktail of yesteryear?
>>
>>7410084
Yes.
As a solid Gen Xer, can confirm. Rum and coke was the fallback drink of pretty much everyone. Cheap, strong, and caffeinated. You may still find this drink haunting the homes of Gen Xers who never grew out of the nineties.

On a whim I just made this:

http://www.seriouseats.com/2016/02/spaghetti-cacio-e-pepe-roman-snack-pasta.html

I've always thought that the best cooking was the most elaborate.

It came out very good, filled me up and was super simple.

What other very simple (low ingredient count, easy technique) recipes do you all have? What are your go to recipes like this that are fast and easy?

Poor man's spaghetti.
It's basically just spaghetti, parmesan cheese grated on top, oil, and three/four eggs cooked sunny side up and slapped on top of the pasta itself after it has been cooked.
Also called spaghetti alla puveriello, although you'd find the recipe in italian.

I didn't check out your link, so sorry if my dish is too similar to yours, but I have been making a bomb ass Cajun Alfredo for a while now and have been loving it.

Saute fresh garlic (until slightly browning, don't let that shit burn) with protein of your choice.
Add white wine, season.
After you've let the alcohol simmer away, add heavy cream, bring up to a medium simmer.
Then add your Cajun seasoning, make your own, buy a package, w.e
simmer that seasoning in that bitch until you have a nice creamy, homogenized cream sauce going, and then add some parmesan.
Add noodles of choice, and toss.
Add some more parm and toss that through as well.
Plate, with more PARM to garnish.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I cook 1/2 - 1 whole bag of noodles when I buy them, and th4en store them in bags in the fridge, so I can just reach for em and dump em in. Taking away the cook time for the noodles, this is a <10 minute dish and it is fucking delicious.

Add much less or no parmesan for a more traditional, less cheesy Alfredo.

But lets be real, dat Parm.

Pic related but not OC. Comes out looking awfully similar, but without that red shit.

I want to start grilling. What's a good charcoal grill to get?

What other things do I need?

What are some good entry-level recipes that would be hard for a beginner to fuck up?

My diet is absolutely, completely fucked.
I've never actually properly fed myself, the closest thing to me getting any sort of balance in my intake was when I ate subway with every veggie every single day for lunch at a previous job.

Can I just eat like, chicken and spinach with rice or some shit and call it good? I need to stop existing off of microwaved trash and fast food.

Im not an expert.Id say you should eat 1/5 fruits 2/5 vegetables 2/5 stuff that actually fills you up.Also, every non processed food is better than processed,so just start, even if it will be only little steps,it's worth it
>>
Buy or download a cook book, pick a tv chef and they'll have a beginers one. Eat a veriety from that and you should have a somewhat balanced diet.

If efforts an issue cook in batches then refigerate/freeze your leftovers. Oh and if you're plate is monochromatic you've fucked up.

Does that book cover the reasons why the potato famine was such a blight on Ireland? Potatoes were native to the Americas so what did the Irish eat before potatoes?

Would you?

What is your maple syrup's...

Don't be shy, now. Tell daddy the truth.
>>
Your antique cast iron griddle needs to be hotter. Those pancakes are pale.
>>

Grade A (amber).

>>7412398
Nah, low heat is the way to go. I like them light, thick and fluffy. High heat bakes them too quick and they end up thin and rubbery.

Is there one specific dish/food item that gives you stomach pains every time? Yet the individual parts do not bother you at all when apart.

I make excellent alfredo sauce. Yet it always gives me stomach pain, gas, and the runs. Yet I can eat heavy cream, butter, Parmesan cheese, garlic, shallots, parsley, and black pepper with no problems when not in an Alfredo sauce.

My alfredo sauce, the non chain italian place's alfredo sauce, Chili's "alfredo sauce". They all do it to me.

But I could drink a gallon of milk, eat stick of butter, or a block of cheese with no problem.

Who /nose to tail/ here?

It's kind of a dumb meme term for something that has existed since the beginning of time. But I've always done this. It seems kind of weird that it fell so out of fashion with the baby boomers that gen x and y had to come up with a term to describe it's resurgence.

Pic related: me right now
