This might sound disgusting to you, but I'm obsessed with biting off my nails and moving them around between my teeth, prodding them in and out of places. It feels good in a weird way. Like have you ever used a toothpick and then you kept prodding that one place in your gums? Well, probably not... anyways, I do that and sometimes it gets stuck. Then what I do is bite off another bigger nail to try to use my tongue on to force it out. It feels so good when it gets out, but sometimes I continue forcing that nail against the spot where the other nail used to be, and it feels good. I feel no pain, even when I prod so much it bleeds a little. The blood tastes good too. It tastes really good, actually. I try to force it harder and harder to get more blood. Eventually the nail becomes soft and flaccid, so I use something nearby, usually a pair of scissors. Then I keep forcing and forcing, more and more blood on my tongue, until finally my tooth actually comes out. I feel no pain, still, but my mouth starts overflowing with blood. And I absolutely love it. I continue the process on all my other teeth. It takes hours, let me tell you. But then once you finally do it, all your teeth out, you still want more, it's crazy. That's when you start to go at the eyes.... and, well, I can't type without seeing, so let me just post this and then get back to work. ;)

Honestly. The way spiders are put together doesn't really work for giant versions. The bigger it is the more weight which means the thicker the legs which means the body has to be more powerful and so on and so forth.
Another thing is spiders move through fluid hydraulics if I remember right and I don't think that would scale up well either.
A giant insect wouldn't be an insect at all. It'd be something else. They'd need to have muscle and bone and all that kinda shit.

IIRC, barely at all. All that really happened is that their communities became larger due to increased awareness of subject matter.
