How does Awakening stack up to the original? I just started it recently.
Beat Origins a few days ago after a two year break. Kinda disappointed, but not surprised that none of the items in storage or my companions carried over to awakening.
What I don't get is that this game released in 2009, after Mass Effect 1.
How was this game not dumbed down despite being released in the "We want the CoD audience" era?
the last boss on the amgarrak dlc on nightmare is legitimately hard if you don't have a cheesy build/prepared for it. truly was biowares last good game

Got this in the November Monthly Bundle.
Just finished the main story in around 40 hours. Really fun game with xcom/FE-like gameplay. The setting is by far my absolute favorite thing about the game, a fun retelling of WW2.
My only complaints are that the dialouge is very dull some of the time and some scenes are very 'animeish'.
I was actually quite suprised over some of the story, like showing the bad side of war (dying soldier crying out for his mom/concentration camps/dead kids) in this otherwise rather colourfull and comedic game.
I've never seen /v/ talk about it though, anyone here played it? What's your verdic?
Also, Faldio is best character.

Threads are pretty regular, daily now that a new game has been announced. Unfortunately, that new one is a spinoff in an alternate universe that doesn't look much like the original. None of that WWI/II influence.

Well that sucks, especially when they already have a good cast of characters and lore to continue some years after the events of VC.
I mean, you could have a war with the Atlantic Federation which did fuck all during the first game.
It's funny when you think about it. Gallia is basically Germany.

Prove that their refusal to release the game outside of Japan is a marketing ploy.
Criticism of "sexism" is at an all time high. Criticism of women's "representation" in video games is more prominent than ever. Criticism of of "objectification" is of the charts. And it's all escalated to new heights withing the last 2-3 years. Isn't the reason enough to be wary from releasing a game such as this in the west?
So far the most popular narrative, is that Koei is fabricating a reason for why they refuse to release the game in the west, as a way to get the community to market the game through outrage against a common enemy. I find this narrative to be hilariously self-unaware. As they don't realize that they're fabricating a loaded accusation, with NO evidence.
So prove it. Prove that it's all a marketing ploy.

Outsourced to Raven who made a generic FPS rather than a Quake game.
Nothing, it was a good game. I enjoyed it much more than Quake 2.

Which is weird, since Raven was BFFs with id back in the early Quake days and helped with the Quake mission packs.
Also, because they did nothing with the stuff established in the intro sequence. You get partially Stroggified, but then it just becomes another basic shooter, with nothing about possibly infiltrating the Strogg or such.
