Prove that their refusal to release the game outside of Japan is a marketing ploy.
Criticism of "sexism" is at an all time high. Criticism of women's "representation" in video games is more prominent than ever. Criticism of of "objectification" is of the charts. And it's all escalated to new heights withing the last 2-3 years. Isn't the reason enough to be wary from releasing a game such as this in the west?
So far the most popular narrative, is that Koei is fabricating a reason for why they refuse to release the game in the west, as a way to get the community to market the game through outrage against a common enemy. I find this narrative to be hilariously self-unaware. As they don't realize that they're fabricating a loaded accusation, with NO evidence.
So prove it. Prove that it's all a marketing ploy.

There hasn't been a single high budget game that I know of that has been DENIED existence for all I know of.

The ideals of a game like this is a joke game. A joke on sexuality and perversion, but who cares?
What radicals seem to not understand is that if you don't like something, don't give it attention. Don't hate it, don't play it, don't even mention it.
Being an person who believes in true equality, I don't think "sexy" games objectify anything. The only reason people think that is because we're tied to earth by old words and ideals. Not everyone thinks women as objects, and objectify isn't a term just used for women. Humans objectify everything, because it goes into how we view things as objects associated to other objects. The movies industry isn't just objectifying women, but all things. Every character in a movie falls into a trope, yet the trope isn't always correct 100% in all cases of humanity.

No. Because Koei Tecmo didn't blame anything on SJWs. That was Play Asia. KT blamed the the discussion of women in video games. Which is a topic that is very hot right now. You can see this being discussed from various sources. One of which, just so happens to be Anita. She's done a lot to make the issue very large. As well as many other people to make it their work to incite this kind of discussion. And the media that likes to participate.
Essentially, the release of the game, will make it a target like it's never been before. Where it's previous releases already saw a bit of criticism regarding how it portrays women. DOAX3 would get many times more flack.
Any fan of DOAX, or just weeb schlock, already knows, or is willing to import. That being said, it is likely that those who are already a fan of these kinds of games, will buy DOAX3, regardless of it's region of release. Which means, that KT can still sell their game to their fans overseas, while *avoiding* controversy. Or at least, they might have thought that they could avoid controversy. Unfortunately, it didn't work out that way. But regardless, it would be in their best interests not to get involved in the topic of SJWs, because of imaging reasons. It would poison their image, if they're always the game that's being talked about disparagingly.

More criticism is being ramped up. Back when DOAX1 and 2 were originally released. Social media was not what it is today. We weren't having discussions about sexism in the gaming industry. There were no "SJWs" and "Gamergate". Anita wasn't listed as one of the most influential figures in the gaming world. it was a different time before.
Also, DOA5, for all of it's T&A, still doesn't quite have the same caliber of fanservice as DOAX. DOA5 can still be sold under the guise of a fighting game. No one is buying DOAX3 for the volleyball.

Like most Japanese studios, Temco is a "middleware" company in today's industry. This means their "obscure" titles might only ship 500,000 copies in the US. But whereas this would bankrupt a AAA studio, Temco can still make a profit on these numbers. I guess they might even make money on selling 200,000 copies in japan alone, with the US market as a bonus.
But I would wager what Temco CANNOT make a profit on is basically spending 4+ months in development + Q/A + Localisation to
- Redo all the outfits for all the girls to be less skimpy or burkhas or whatever
- Add male models, voices, movesets, etc
- Redo camera angles, movesets, victory poses, etc, to make them more Chirstian/Feminist
- Pay Literally Gin-types protection money consulatancy fees
- Pay Hipster journalists reputation protection money
- Deal with endless shrill, hysterical complaints from an endless hoarde of social media reactionaries who cannot, ever, be placated under any circumstances.
Temco looked at the death and basically decided the US market is not worth the now additional cost. In a way, this can be viewed as a form of cultural protectionism, or at least cultural extortion. It's not a game Temco wanted to play.
This isn't a marketing stunt. It's the beginning of a new, culturally conservative era. Expect companies, foreign and domestic, to fall into line left and right.

In DoAX3, there is no pretense. You buy the game most likely because you enjoy looking at pretty girls and appreciate the female body. That's it, that's literally all there is to it. Also, despite showing a lot of skin, there's a certain innocence to it. The game never gets explicit and the girls are just fooling around and having fun. It's nowhere near the hardcore, woman-hating porn some media outlets make it out to be.

That's a fairly common thing to do in Japan in general - lots of visual novels have had to shoe-horn sex in to sell, and then take it out for all-ages versions on consoles. Over in America and Europe, we prefer our tits games to be, well, actual tits games (although America is famously far more hostile to tits than Europe, just try and get an AO game stocked anywhere).
I mainly think they project poor sales in the West, like DOAX2 had because it was a bit poo compared to DOAX1, and if they officially release it in the West they'll have pay more money to licence the soundtrack over here than if we just imported the English Asian release, which we can actually do now.
Also that it's a game about tits, with Marie Rose in it, who is 18-honest-guv but is deliberately stylised and dressed to appeal to the lolicon crowd. That sorta passes in Japan, and even just about in America to some extent I think, but it is Trouble-with-a-capital-T in many parts of Europe.
It's just easier for them to concentrate on where they won't have a problem selling it, and where most of the audience who'll buy it are located. I don't blame them. Makes commercial sense.
I enjoyed the first one. Second was not as much fun. Don't know how the third will turn out. Will see after release.
