Blizzard is pretty good about content updates so I think that if the initial playerbase is large enough they will be fine.
The problem is, it's pretty much one of the only major multiplayer experiences coming out that is pay to play.

I tried it on a free weekend and really enjoyed playing it with 2 friends, even as someone who's not great at FPS games. I think they found a good balance of realism and gamey-ness with the gameplay, and it looks pretty nice. I think it's at the very least worth picking up on sale.

got 40 hours out of it. suffers a bit from open-world syndrome and the hand-to-hand-combat system is shallow but i liked the world design and car combat as well as the upgrading.
