Demon's Souls and Dark Souls were essentially adaptions of DnD lite choose your own adventure fantasy books. Combat was slow and simplistic because the encounters were built around using strategy and patience to deal with traps and ambushes. Generally speaking, the individual areas had their own gimmicks and were pretty short so you were often struggling to adapt to the new challenges in your path. Combat wasn't really the focus, it was how you dealt with every step potentially leading you into an unseen deadly situation.
Dark Souls 2 is a game where you spend most of your time running around and smacking enemies and only occasionally you had to deal with unique encounters.
Bloodborne has some of the design in the first two games, but you mostly just end up smacking enemies anyway because of your increased speed and proficiency in combat.
Dark Souls 3 tries to take the best of each game, but only really succeeds in the boss design.

Video games are a product. You spend money on the product with the promise of entertainment. Punishing you for being bad at the game is essentially false advertising AND theft because you paid for something you are not actually receiving.

Game is pretty shit in general, btw. A LOT of cheap trial and error and just bad gameplay. Also very monotonous (press dodge button when enemy attacks, hit attack button twice, for 50 hours).

What's /v/'s (so your own) opinion on where DaS3 stands? I haven't played it yet, will pick it up in the weekend. Busy times. But i've played Demon's, DaS, DaS2 and bloodborne.
