I detest the game and wouldn't pay a cent for it. It's everything bad about modern games rolled in to one package.
Just wait for the summer sale and it'll be $5 or so like it usually is.
It's really bland. Nothing's broken or anything but its the kind of game you get for cheap and then burn through and forget completely about once something worthwhile comes out.
So, I'm at the point of returning Lydia to Harkon and I'm not sure if I should become a Vampire Lord or not. Which choice is more fulfilling?
It kinda sucks that this choice comes so early in the quest chain when you haven't really gotten to know either side.

My only issue is their way of thinking goes against the way I normally play my characters -- generally they're good guys so the whole "humans are cattle" thing is a bit contradictory. Do they get any redeeming qualities later?

There is nothing else to it. It's a proof of concept for the idea of "Sonic the Hedgehog as a First Person Shooter" or "Trackmania: Shooter Edition". It'll be worth $20 once the price drops down that far, if ever. Multiplayer and the Developer Kit are an afterthought, don't even think about them.
