Dark Souls 2 redeeming factor was that they let you choose multiple paths at the beginning either going to the Tower of Flame or Forest of the Fallen Giants

Actually, you got 4 path you can go through.
You can jump down to the gutter with a proper setup without Gilligan.
You can go to Huntsmen Copse as soon as you kill Dragonrider.
You can also skip all the route and farm enough souls to bypass winter shrine.
There's also things like builds, weapons and armor variety etc.
Also DLC area is godlike with a better shortcut system other than simply being on the wrong side of the door.

76 is the shit. He's not quite McCree, but he's the best DPS outside of Mr. Guaranteed Fan Kill. He might be the best if/when Blizzard puts a cooldown on fucking fan.
