That's literally his whole thing. I mean, blue magic and all, but you can't sit around using a useless character while his limit bar fills up.

Just accept that he's shit kind of like the game is and don't bother. There is a fight where you are forced to use him alone, but the boss level scales, so no worries. You can literally never level him up and be fine.

It is similar in the fact that it is a generational game. You follow a line of emperors against the seven heroes, but after that the similarities end when it comes to progression. It is a lot more open world. It did come out on smartphones recently. I am personally awaiting the Vita version though.

Worth checking out the other games as well since it started on the Gameboy.
