A guide for those who have no idea what any of them mean
Shi-Cho: The basic lightsaber form which focuses on broad strikes against limbs and basic blaster deflection. Ideal for fighting multiple enemies, but not single targets.
Makashi: The only Lightsaber form devoted exclusively to Lightsaber against Lightsaber combat. It's basically just fencing, focusing on quick footwork and parrying an opponents attacks to wear them down and leave them open to attack. Excellent against Lightsaber wielding opponents but weak against ranged attacks.
Soresu: The only Lightsaber form which focuses exclusively on defence. It requires very little physical strain, so you can wear opponents out while still being in good shape. A master of Soresu is only really able to be defeated by a master of Juyo.
Ataru: This form focuses heavily on acrobatic moves and incorporating the whole body as a weapon. It's obviously the most physically demanding form so it's best to use sparingly. It focuses on delivering an overwhelming assault.
Djem So/Shien: Created by Jedi who thought Soresus was too passive, form V focuses on adopting a defensive stance but incorporating incredibly strong and aggressive counter moves. Shien focuses on blaster deflection while Djem So focuses on Lightsaber duels and benefits from a well-built user.
Niman: Niman is not really a unique form. It's based on incorporating the skill sets of several other forms the user may know and chaining them together. Niman also focuses on incorporating force attacks more than any other form.
Juyo/Vaapad: The most demanding Lightsaber form, both physically and mentally. It's a purely aggressive form with little defensive options. It combines the speed and acrobatics of Ataru with the overwhelming strength and aggression of Djem So. Only Sith utilise Juyo as it requires the user to channel the dark side in order to function properly, whereas Vaapad can be used by Jedi.
