Alright /tv/ I just finished Winter Sleep, and while I did think the dialog was exceptional and the plot was unique, I didnt immediately get that "loved it" feeling that comes with movies that are 8/10+
I think I have to watch it again to better assess my opinion but holy shit is it ever long. Granted it feels like 2 hours and not 3 1/2 but still.
Also the cinematography was probably best of 2014.

Blade Runner
A great rehash of Huxley dystopian ideas. George clearly knew what he was doing here and made a great film.
Coming off of this I'm not sure why he ever bothered with stupid action shit like Star Wars and Indiana Jones. I'm guessing he was shocked that he hit it big with SW and just decided to ride it out. Him being an artist and all I'm surprised he sold out.

It's just a measly student film trying too hard to be serious. Star Wars is where it's at. It's the national American epic. It is to America as Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen was to Germany and Hesiod and Homer to the Greeks. It is the landscape of post-industrial America captured on celluloid.
