Would you play an elderly character? A female elderly character? If yes, what are your ideas to make him/her interesting?
So far I've noticed that most old folks among adventurers are long bearded, Gandalf-esque wizards, druids and sometimes clerics.
Beware of the elderly who are in professions where most die young.
>>47087282
Well, an old adventurer guy is already a challenge. A FEMALE one is very hard.
Still, it's a pretty good idea when there's no adventuring involved.
>old wizards mostly come from chivalric romances, were they were the bad guys in their towers and shit
>>47087282
Sure. They look like this.
When will GW start to improve the quality of their books again?
>>47086107
The two on the right are intended to be bare-bones functional pictures that clearly and cleanly depict the intended paint schemes of the models in question. Other art of models are intendedand accomplish with some successto show their coolness and badassery, with more intricate detail and complexity.
>>47087606
While you are right, it doesn't excuse the digital laziness that results in a sloppy and poor quality look of the right side image.
I honestly don't think there is a way to do colored blueprint diagrams "right". If they left it uncolored, it'd be fine since it's a simple blueprint. But add in color and it gets messy. You either color it "well" and it becomes too "artsy", or you color it like they did, and it looks like an MS Paint gradient hackjob.
>this 1st Company Veteran is clearly distinguished by his white helm and numerous honour markings.
>looks about as decorated as the sergeant.
When you play male characters do you make them handsome as fuck, just average or eggman-tier?
>>47081853
Depends. One played a handsome as fuck gladiator, loosely based on Vego from Street Fighter (wore a mask to protect my pretty face and all).
Other time, I played a dead-serious Solo in Cyber who cared not about how he looked only that he was efficent and was, therefore, ugly as living hell.
>>47081937
Sorry for all the typos, I'm on my mobile.
>>47081853
Always ugly as fuck, kinda like m'self.
Hey! :)
I did a thread like this last night and got half a dozen requests - which was sadly the full extent of it - done! :)
I am Taking Requests today as well:
In Exchange for:
> Name of your Noblehouse, Adventuring or Heroes Group
> a short story of the Group / Family
> a short list of members of that group
> a Description of their Coat of Arms,
... you can be as detailled and or fancy with the description as you lik
... text scrolls with the Words or Motto of the Group are of course possible
... be creative
I offer:
> Designing you that Coat of Arms :)
> Posting it here for you
Depending on how much original work I have to put into the request, it will take from
... 10 Minutes ( when I only need to arrange all the composite parts of the Coat of Arms and have all of them prepared )
to
... 40 Minutes ( when I draw custom decoration, custom Helmet Styles etc )
.
cheers! :)

as a bit of trivia:
The Image I use there is the Banner of "Galottas Arseholes" - the Letters to the left of the irregular Seven-Star signify their former allegiance.
After the dissolution of their homecountry and the death of emperor Galotta, the Mercenaries reformed and are now called "Galottas Arseholes", so they stitched buttcheeks, an asshole, cock and balls ontop of the banner, then ran a yellow sewing line down the middle.
Usually before battle, they smear some mud on there as well - taking a piss and a shit on the false and traitor emperor that had them stranded in a faraway foreign country! :) :D
How technical are you expecting people to get with heraldic terminology? Are you looking for "Chequy gules and argent, a griffon rampant azure", or do you want something more like "Red and white checkers with a gold griffin"? (Not asking you to make that, just using it as an example)
>>47078942
not technical at all.
Since english is NOT my first languages,
and i do NOT speak french,
but rather only German, English and Spanish
it is easier if you give simple words descriptions :) The simpler the better, so that I understand properly what you want! :)
Is it possible to have a high school setting in a tabletop game? It seems like no matter the genre, it would just turn into "how do I avoid high school to go on my adventures."
>>47062128
BESM, M&M Mecha and Manga, MAID, and Mage off the top of my head.
If you're doing a high school game, you need to make it extremely location based.
Look at how games like Persona handle it, for instance.

Vocational classes and off-campus assignments. Attendance is only mandatory on certain days.
Me and my friends are about to get into warhammer 40k, anyone have any tips, anecdotes, or want to explain the basic rules? I'm just excited to start because it looks fun as shit.

>have any tips
Don't.
>>47102848
This. Tbqh pham
>>47102823
>have any tips
Make sure that this is the wargame that you truly want to play, there's other far cheaper and less time intensive options.
>Create a pantheon.
>Note too late I have three gods of war.
Fuck.
>>47098647
>God of Battlelust, of berserker rage, of looting and pillaging
>God of Duty, of defending the hearth. Join them with fatherhood or fertility
>God of Strategy or Intrigue, associated with intellect, prophecy, logistics

>40k
>the prequel

Are they constantly at war with each other for the right to be the only god of war?
>Still sad.

>>47096180
I'm still in denial.
Is "it's magic" an acceptable explanation for impractical armor and outfits and adventurers being attractive rather than homely assholes?
>>47075841
That depends on thetype of game you're running. If everyone agrees they want a less-serious beef/cheesecake for-fun game, the sure. If you're playing something grittier then be prepared to be asked to leave.
>>47075841
No. Polymorph is prohibitively expensive, and skimpy armor would only have merit in social combat, or the bedchamber.
>>47075841
No, but expecting adventures to be "homely" is kind of stupid. Sure, some of them might be ugly, but for the most part, they'll be rugged, toned, buff, and very few scars thanks to healing magic.
You got the asshole part right though.
>DM: Lay off with the "My parents/family/wife died" backstories. Not everyone needs a tragic backstory
>DM proceeds to kill off your character's family, friends, and partners during the buildup to the final encounter with the BBEG.
DMs that do this are the bane of my existence.
>>47068024
You would think have some kind of family and friends to go back to would make for potentially good story telling and people complain about murderhobos but then you realize you create them by killing off any connection to the NPCs they could possibly have beyond "Are they useful to me"
It creates an annoying vicious cycle. GMs who wastefully kill people characters have relationships to encourage the sort of murderhobo with no relationships, which makes it harder for them to engage with the game.
It's a really hard habit to break once it's set in. I've actually had to help a few players who had almost been broken by GMs like that recover, letting them trust that I wouldn't just murder any NPC they liked or wanted a connection to, and showing them that you can create a more compelling game experience by involving characters rather than just killing them.
I do think that kind of GM is just incredibly wasteful and unimaginative, but it's just an aspect of the larger issue, where so many GMs see death as the worst thing they can do to a character. Death is boring. If a character is dead, sure there's the revenge motivation, but it's so played out by now. Putting them in peril, creating tension and building conflict takes more work, but it can be so much more fun in practice.
>>47068087
It's annoying, to be entirely honest. You put work into roleplaying out those interactions and then the DM strips it away for cheap drama.
Welcome one, and I welcome you all to the tale of a world called Thespia.
Here is the odyssey of one that clings to this world with no face of their own! In a place where magic is fundamental to all of creation, from the ancient origins of Leviathan seas and behemoth lands, zephyr winds, and phoenix fires. All things in this world has a life and voice. Yet they are only heard by those that listen.
The Faceless, a being of eldritch origins, arose from the bottom of a well. Many a folk tale in Thespia says that only two things reside at the bottoms of wells, "Evil and wishes."
Since returning to the surface land wearing the face of another, The Faceless has encountered many friends and foes in their journeys as they switch faces and live the lives of others.
The question that persists? Which face is his own? And where will his adventures lead as he twists the fate of this cursed world.
Traveling now as the Eternal Dancer, Belinda the Beautiful, the Faceless's party makes its way to Celes Prance, a Namour city built upon a lake.

' The skies over the Cleptess harbour take a turn for the gloomy and overcast. Some street vendors take notice and begin closing up their shops complaining about the weather being poor for business. Shops with actual buildings stay open, and wives stoke fire in their homes to give their husbands a warm place to dry once the rain starts to come down.
Victoria eyes the sky keenly, the glimmer of thought in her diamond eyes shimmering before she looks to you and Odette, “It's going to rain soon. Say in around three or so dramatic moments.”
“Thank you for that Victoria.” You say with the gloom of the sky already wearing down upon you. You've had nothing but trouble since arriving in this city. First, the guards at the gate shook you for a fake security deposit, then you had all of your money stolen, and finally someone sabotaged your wolf with a week-long sleeping draught.
“She's right. We should take cover soon ourselves. You've got your fire, sure, however we could all catch sick from a rain like this.” Odette checks the sky, looking upon the clouds as they gather.
“Curious thing about a dramatic moment, it always seems longer when you're having one.” Victoria grabs your sash. “I'm not used to walking this much...” She says, panting.
“You'll have to get used to it.” Odette swats Victoria's hand off of your clothing.
The girl rescinds and seems not only hurt, but startled. “I-I'm sorry. I d-didn't mean to be a pest. Was that bad?” The meek side of her instantly surfacing.
You stare at Odette for a moment as you exchange a look of pity with her before turning to Victoria and taking her hand. “All of us need to walk for now, but we mustn't get separated here, so lets all hold our hands.”
>>47104915
'
Victoria grips the belt of her trousers, sniffling a little as she lets her hand be held by you. Her hand is soft, softer even than yours actually, and it feels almost weightless; which is likely owed to the girl's frail nature and consstitution.
You reach out to Odette and the three of you hold hands to the Adventurer's guild to pick up a job...
The Guild hall is packed with others seeking refuge from rain which just starts to come down when you're all inside. The chill of the sea lingers upon the wet air, staved off only by the multiple fires lit inside the guild, basking the place with the toasty smell of a hot hearth.
As the three of you come in, you and Odette with your hoods up, you push through the crowds to a ore open space. Likely they're awaiting the rain to end before heading off to wherever they're set to go.
As you near the request board, you feel a sink in your gut as you see that only a few requests are actually available. Just your luck. But hey, beggars can't be choosers, right?”

It's really peaceful out here, it's not too cold, there's just enough of a breeze so it's not annoying, and all of the stars are out. I smile as I lean back against the currently unmanned wheel of this lost ship we're borrowing.
It's much more calm over here, maybe it's because I can finally get some slack without worrying about the captain tying me to some part of the ship, maybe it's because there's just a few of us here? maybe it's because all of the yellah fellahs got left back on our actual ship....who knows, point is this quite night is really nice...I guess.
I mean sure, there's still some boys making some noise up here, but that's just life now. I frown as I look over the deck of the ship and see Jack looking up at me, as he leans against one of the masts, still wearing my form like it's going out of style. And for once he doesn't have his gaggle of idiots following him around.
He smirks and raise his glass of wine. I start to get up to ask him where he got it, when Ajax meows for my attention. I turn down as the kitten climbs onto my lap and curls up.
"Ahh come on" I sigh as I hear Serri rising out of the ocean somewhere nearby "I was just about to go to do something you know"
"Mroow" Ajax repeats, maybe he just wants me to pet him, I lean over to scratch him behind his ears.
And not even a moment later, thunder cracks, and it starts pouring, and Ajax is just so lucky enough to have me to keep him out of it, and the little guy starts purring as I feel my hair starting to cling to my neck.
What do I do?
[] take my hat off
[] Ask Jack what he's so smug about
[] go inside the ship and get some dinner
[] "Punish" ajax
[] Go ride on Serri for a bit
[] Ya know, this reminds me, of what my grampa used to tell me
[] write in
Reminder, ignore shitposters, waiting to see where quests end up eventually.
