Does anyone actually give a fuck about short races? What do they even add to the game? Whimsy and lightheartedness? You can get that shit without being a halfling or gnome. I can understand the appeal of dwarves, since they're gritty and tough, but what the fuck do gnomes and halflings contribute? When was the last time a gnome or halfling was cool or heroic, or something that wasn't comic relief? When was the last time a gnome or halfling wasn't an annoying little shit played by That Guy?
Plus, I'm sure enough people in this hobby are manlets, and...

So I'm trying to get my fairly normie real life pals to try out a session, I'm pretty much going to create a very simple system and pull whatever pieces I want from other systems as well.

Well which systems have you, personally, played so far?
In a general sense, I've found that what's probably the best thing for newbies is shorter lists of options. New players typically don't want to pore over the book trying to figure out what's going to be good and when so they can pick the best perk/feat/whatever out of the list of 100+. I personally tend to just assume my first character in any game (P&P or vidya) is going to have some kind of horrible mistake involved in it somewhere...

You know, these steam machines are great, but I was thinking, what if we designed a tiny universe, waited for life to evolve there, and then showed them how to use electricity? In theory, they could manufacture more than they needed, and route the rest up to us.

Czernobog (Black God) and Belobog (White God) are good examples of this, being old Slavic pagan deities, a pair of dualistic gods of light and dark.
That said it's hard to verify much about either in real life.
Maybe take the concept of yin and yang where pretty much everything fits in one or the other and crank it up to eleven, anything that could be considered diametrically opposing is on one side of the other, up/down, left/right, whether toilet paper should be over or under, etc. maybe even things that aren't really diametrically opposed, like chalk and chips, or donkeys and horses.

Sup /tg/, night shift workanon puzzle guy here. We left off at pic related. I got back and searched around and our final guess was true-- "(2/3) UP" wasn't a puzzle by itself, it was a clue that there were 2 other notes that would complete the puzzle so it could be solved. Will post continuation.

I have a small problem in my campaign. I have a large bunch of kobolds who have taken over a small-ish town and are now prepared to defend it against a counterattack by the humans who own the town. What I don't know is how would kobolds defend the town against such a large group of enemies, especially since it's not a cave or other tight space that's easy to simply fill with traps. Anyone have any ideas?
The kobolds don't care about the town, only the cave system it was built on top of.

Maybe I should have been a bit more specific about their motivations. The kobolds don't actually care about the town, they work as a distraction for the real invasion force and their objective is simply to occupy the counterattacking army as long as possible.
