I'm paranoid schizophrenic and I tender a different delusion every few months to add to my collection of pointless bullshit to obsess over.

But, basically, have you ever seen Men in Black? The dude played by David Cross basically says that old ass movies and whatnot are like a key, or map or something. They have hidden, secret information in them, and show a timeline of events involving extraterrestrials.

I was thinking what if the same were true for pnp RPGs. How much real esoteric knowledge is stored in just D&D alone?

So, my question to you is this - what game has the most accurate depiction of alchemy and hermeticism, and delving further, demonology and ritual magick.

I want to know the name of the system so I can pore through the books.

Unknown Armies is about modern occultism and conspiracies, it's a setting where a lot of scenarios where paranoid thoughts you might have turn out to all be true simultaneously and wrong at the same time.

Anyway, Chinese was it? I really wish there'd be more of them showing up at the local arms auctions so I could molest them. The few dao I've gotten my hands on so far have all been very hefty pieces, with the centre of balance way out. This particular one being the most extreme I've encountered so far, with the CoM being almost exactly in the middle (pommel to tip, not middle of the blade).

I've yet to run into a jian which wasn't obvious tourist bait or sized like a not very large dagger, so no personal experience there, but the notions I've gotten from forum.grtc.org is that things are somewhat similar for them as well.

So much (relatively) for the light, nimble Kung Fu weapon. (Let's ignore the sword-shaped ribbons sued in modern days rhythmic gymnastics wushu.) In a way it's kinda like the deal with the katana I guess. And aren't scimitars [SIC!] usually portrayed as light slashing things too? Seems like a running theme with oriental weapons. Perhaps simply the result of the old "20lbs knightly sword" myth? Let imagination run off to one side, and all of reality will suddenly appear as if sitting on the other.

So you and your party are out in the edge of the forests and then you encounter some alraune. She/it is calling over to the only male teammate of your three person group. Your methods?

Put on a gas mask if it's a sci-fi setting to counteract the pheromone manipulations or any other aerially dispersed bio-chem effects.

Fantasy setting with low to no magic, trip the party member if it's not going after my PC and drag 'em away to replace the manipulation with booze and women that are less likely to make him into a fertilized bone soil bed.

Fantasy setting, our PF Kingmaker group hired her as a guardian of the woods and periodically toss a few condemned prisoners her way if needed. We also danced that Fey Bard-type person into our court. It's sort of like how if you got Charmed in some games the ideal solution is to tackle-hug the spellcaster who you now recall is your best friend and noogie that nerd into submission just like you did with all your old pals from back home.

What do you guys think of Spellweaver?

In my experience, it's close enough to Magic that it was easy to learn. I like the inclusion of a speed stat for creatures. And if you've ever been mana-screwed, the "divine offering" button in spellweaver let's you put a card from your hand on the bottom of your deck, and then search the top 5 cards for a mana.

If you already play, have a game with me some time. My handle is "Sirrush". If you you haven't played yet, give it a try. You can spend money to get cards, but the game is free and you get more cards just by playing. If you give my friend code "AHRLYT" you'll get an extra 75,000 gold to start with. Packs of cards cost 12,500 and starter decks cost 50,000 gold.

Though OP is a shill, game is still solid. First time I felt like the game designers had played magic, and noted the fucking broken cards... then made balanced versions. Meta is a bit overrun with the memerhino equivalent, but... it is fine and fairly balanced.

I Mostly play WWR creatureless dragonfire reflection combo. Though I have been messing with a lulzy WOC reanimator toolbox deck.

Looking forward to the next part of the set dropping next month... should have a million gold and tons of packs by then.

Depends on the mechanism of their undying nature.

If they just have, like, wolverine-tier regeneration or something, toss them in a volcano or put them in a lead casket and dump them at the bottom of the ocean. Let them be immortal down there, out of the way for the next few thousand years at least.

If they are a Lich or equivalent, find and destroy the source of their power.

In general, finding a way to bind or destroy his soul usually does the trick. May require working with angels or demons to accomplish.

If they are a Doro-style immortal, you are fucked. Flat out, 100%, no win scenario. So just stay out of their way.

Hey /tg/, I've recently been taking a huge interest in Warhammer 40k. I'm crazy about the lore and would really like to get into painting miniatures but have no idea where to start as far as which paints to get, what I'll need, a good set to start with, etc. Any advice?

Well first off just do it. If its something you are interested in then give it a shot.

Go in and choose a model kit and choose the colours you want to paint it in and then give it a go.

Usually LGS or Games workshops will be able to give you some information regarding painting.

Its not hard to start but dont be upset that you are not amazing when you first start. Keep going.

When painting use the tip of the brush, paint using small strokes and then clean the brush off in water each time.

There are plenty of guides on youtube so start from there

It's that time of the year again boys and girls, where I actually have time to run a Civ thread!

NOTE - All possible choices for race will have a similar starting tech level/strength at start (With the obvious exception of the more tech-y boys and girls), assume that the 'first-world' tech level is on par with medieval times.

So, I'd like to include a few disclaimers here -

1.) Many, MANY parts of my writing get NSFW fast, it's pretty hard to go without that

We were created by a dying wizard who wanted children but fail at the end of our creation. That's why we have gentials.

So, recently when throwing game concepts back and forth with one of my players and talking about odd (but amusing) genre mashups, one that came up was 'space opera'+'shonen anime'. And really, by that, we meant the whole fighting-with-crazy-powers genre. I know Dragonball technically goes into space opera territory sometimes, but I would not really go as far as to say Dragonball is PRIMARILY a space opera, as it is more of a kung fu serie with some sci-fi elements mixed with the fantasy.

I'm trying to think up what the concept could be expanded into. I know I want to do a space opera setting that is definitely on the soft sci-fi end and with a somewhat retro bent (think more Star Wars, Dune or Metabarons) mixed with characters duking it out fighting anime style with (space?) swords, (space?) guns and (space?) kung fu. One idea I loosely had was to have the power source somehow based off some spatial phenomena but what exactly....well, beats me. Gravity? I don't know, throwing ideas at the wall here.

Assuming zombies, in this instance, are the types that are biologically still alive, how much damage could they endure before it would eventually overcome them?

By this I mean that typically you see zombies that are missing large portions of their bodies or have their organs falling out or parts of their body missing up to the bones so would a "living" zombie that was incapable of self-preservation be able to last any real length of time in such a state?

Well, let's look at a real-world condition called Congenital Analgesia; basically, some people are born without the ability to feel pain. Sounds like a super-power, right?

Those people basically never make it to 30 and have to be watched constantly as kids because their bones get fucked up pretty fast, they never learn to, like, NOT put their hands on hot things etc. They don't roll over in their sleep, which is more important than it sounds. I think your zombies would be in a similar position. They're going to not realise that they're fucking themselves up by, say, running through shitty terrain and fucking up their legs and ankles. And you can bleed to death from a broken leg pretty easy, so, you know, that sucks.

That and they'd tear through their own ligaments and tendons pretty quickly since they don't feel the pain of muscle strain telling them to stop putting all of their strength into something. One might be able to tear a door down with his bear hands, but he'll break his arms to uselessness doing it.
