Why is violence a major part of traditional games?
>>47845351
When was the last time you saw a movie without conflict?
>>47845351
Because adventuring is a major part of traditional games, and adventuring takes people places where violence is an inherent part of life.

I must admit this makes a certain amount of sense, if you squint hard enought.
Thunt's world clearly isn't core D&D where good and evil are absolute objective metrics that can be observed and measured. As Kore is insistent enough that he is good to retain his paladin levels, subjectivity does enter into the acts of good and evil. By performing actions that are wrong by his own subjectivity, he did indeed work evil with the axe.
This also explains why the axe didn't explode after a couple wings of Saral's usage; even though he was performing grim and terrible deeds that weakened it nonetheless, by his subjectivity (as an amoral...

It's horseshit. Pure "muh opinion" and not even one that makes a lot of sense.
You could easily start undermining it by pointing to Good characters in places full of chancers, crooks and scammers. The Good character doesn't want to waste his limited resources on the underserving.

What are some non-fetish explanations for inter-race marriages in a fantasy setting?
I just don't see dwarves, orcs, elves, halflings or whatever being into swirling

>What are some non-fetish explanations for inter-race marriages in a fantasy setting?
Love?
>>47836114
Love and intimacy? Compatible lifestyles?
Just because you don't like the idea doesn't mean everyone agrees. There might be some dwarves out there with forest elf fever, or maybe some orcish humanboos.
One alternative explanation would be that such marriages are done for political purposes. Perhaps an elvish merchant has to marry the daughter of a human baron so his caravan can trade with the barony, or the sone of a dwarf Lord marries the daughter of a halfling Lord to cement an alliance against the orcs.

SKeletal Rules on Levelling.
in WD students may improve some or all their base stats using XP. Depending on their Meta description advancement varies between students based on what resources are needed to advance.
Standard Human Levelling: If a student is a regular human with no meta they follow these basic rules under the Ral Gran school system.
-Potencies like STR, MOV, HP or INT require XP Ten times The Stat itself to increase by one.

Went to my FLGS at 10 am. Staff was still standing on the pavement with coffee and a cigarette. Two boxes on the counter contained all the goodies. 5 per person max.
I arrived with another neckbeard and we both started flipping through the boxes, I took the left one. Pathfinder, DCC, Faith, Atlantis, ... I knew there were only going to be 2 Sandy Petersen scenario copies. Only one other guy, this could work out. Got to the end of the stack, and there it was: A single copy of The Derelict! I snatched it up just as the other guy started to groan "Is there another one?"
We had a short chat about how this was the only reason we both had gotten up this early on a Saturday, how I, if I ran the FLGS, would have 'reserved' one of the two copies the day before, how Night's Black Agents offered little owner's pride by comparison, and have a nice weekend.
Also got: Slügs from Lamentations of the Flame Princess, a tongue in cheek monster guide to slug puns. 13thAge/NBA scenarios, a glow in the dark d10 (00-90), and a writing implement +2.
The store expanded last year and now they have room for game tables. Apparently there were some 30 GMs ready to cover the 3 1/2 tables. I was late. Even the player spots were all filled weeks before. This morning the rounds were still hours away. So I want to stop by later and see how things are going.
What would you have gotten if everything had been available still?
What did you get?
How does your FLGS 'celebrate' Free RPG Day?
My LGS is owned by a total Jew so he isn't participating.
>Tfw live in the arsehole of nowhere

>>47834109
Tfw I live in mid-sized town and nearest game store i know of is still in big city 70 kms away, and it sucks and is nothing compared to what westerners call LGS, it's just regular store with games and books on the shelves, no tables for playing, no community events, nothing. You just go there, buy shit and leave.
Eastern Europe sucks.

space marines are failed experiments of the emperor that while useful to keep the enemies of man at bay, have proven they are unstable, expensive pieces of meat. catachans can be stronger, mechanicus can be smarter, inquisition can bring down the wrath of god, the assassin clans can be stealthier and more successful.
why do these pauldron people exist?

To show off the power of humanity through the mounting of ever growing pauldron sizes. Unfortunately, the hats of the Guard are a better method of this.

What is the World Ends With You?
It's a strikingly original Square Enix action RPG from 2008 for the Nintendo DS about trust, collective consciousness, desperation, imagination and fabulous outfits. Characters are swept into the Underground, a parallel dimension of Tokyo's Shibuya district, where they run through a 7-day gauntlet of tasks and trials by higher-plane beings called Reapers. Band together and win the Reapers' Game and you have a shot at returning to the Real World. Fail, and you face erasure.
>What is this?
This is a /tg/ Homebrew Project to create a tabletop RPG based on the above game. The goal is to create something that's fast and exciting, incorporating most if not all of the mechanics from the game and fleshing them out with new ideas that fit the themes. And what are those themes?
>Cooperation
A Player in the Reapers' Game can't survive on their own. The Players are arranged into a party where they share combat power, pass stacking buffs to one another (quite literally, in the form a "light puck") and must stay in the fight together.
We're also working a Trust and Synchronization mechanics which measure how in-touch you are with other Players.
>Powers
Players have access to powerful abilities called Psychs which they use to battle Noise, monsters spawned from human struggles and psychological dissonance that plague the Underground. These take the form of Pins that players collect and wear and activate to use their power.
>Fashion
Spend your precious time in the Reapers' Game shopping high-end boutiques or thrift stores for a new pair of skinny jeans or a worn parka that gives you extra attack power or modifies your battle combo!
>What system are you using?
Right now we're working with the system used in an actual Japanese tabletop RPG, Tenra Bansho Zero. Roll a dice pool equal to one of your Stats (Rhythm, Flow, Insight and Bravery), and count each die that's under the Skill or Psych you're using as a success.
>What have you done so far?
Here's our main document, which contains all of our ideas recorded en masse:
We also have a couple supplementary documents:
The Psychlopedia
>https://docs.google.com/document/d/1yjonEzY_gVzJm5FyYksoDnx1otVEBpjAA8K1Ozw3eZU/edit
This is a rundown of all the Psychs in the source game. As we develop the system these will be fleshed out with actual...

So, Skills
As explained in the previous thread, the idea is that Skills can be used with any Stat, and doing so has different effects depending on the combination. To prevent this from being overly free-form, the idea is to make sure that the parameters of each combination are well laid out.
To use a Skill, you roll the Stat you're trying to use and count each die equal to or under your Skill as a success. This is written as Skill: Stat
Here are a couple examples:
Speak: your ability to communicate with other people.

One more (I've an appointment I need to head out to in about 20 minutes). I think this really shows how the concept of Skill:Stat can have some interesting uses.
Protect: Keep someone or something from being harmed. With Rhythm and Flow, you can protect yourself. With Insight and Bravery you can protect others.
>Protect: Rhythm- Block a threat coming at you
>Protect: Flow- Remove yourself from harm’s way
>Protect: Insight- Detect and predict impending dangerComment too long. Click here to view the full text.

What non-alcoholic drinks might be common in a faux-European medieval fantasy setting? In my setting, the only options are
>Water
>Milk
>Fruit juice
And that's a pretty bland roster. I thought of prematurely introducing lemonade, but lemons and other citrus fruits weren't a thing in Europe until the age of exploration. Same for tea, coffee and chocolate milk.
They drank herbal infusions (peppermint, nettle, and the like). Also cultured milk products, like kefir and ryazhenka.
Also, why are the drinks so important to your setting? Do your players literally spend time describing what they ordered for dinner at the inn?
>>47855080
Beer. Most medieval beer was barely alcoholic, it shouldn't be counted as a hard drink.
>>47855080
Tea was a thing in medieval europe. Barley tea was probably the most common, but other types probably existed as well during that period.
Remember, they drank a lot of alchohol because it was the safest beverage. It was about the only thing that didn't make people sick.

"Generically", they're massive, winged, fire breathing, often brutally cunning beasts. In this specific case, "generic" doesn't mean boring. Dragons are awesome just the way they are.
