Shinobi Quest #16
This quest takes place within the lands of the Five Great Shinobi Nations (aka Narutoverse) starting roughly around the beginning of the original series. The world of this quest remains similar to the original, with slight but notable differences in certain areas, based upon the passage of time from a single slightly altered event.
(It’s a goddamn Naruto Quest, you bastards. Have fun, participate, and write in when you feel inclined. Most of the outcomes of this quest will be determined by you, the players. Critiques and questions are always welcome, as my knowledge of the weeby shit is not all encompassing.)

Last thread, Tsuki Norihime and friends set out from the Valley of the End towards the Land of Hot Springs. Along the way, they discovered a village under attack by frightening monsters that nobody present had ever seen. The creatures cut a bloody swathe through the village, seemingly killing the peasants at random; all while exulting their master- someone called Lord Orochimaru. Opting to not get involved, the shinobi party fled towards Yugakure, the stop for the night. Tsuki and Hinata both seemed to suffer from horrible dreams….
The next day, the team headed towards Reisui Village, home of the client and the victims of the bandits you were to hunt. Reaching the village without incident, Tsuki was able to gather information from a fruit merchant, at the price of a pouch full of fruit. Returning to the others, a plan was formed to lure out the bandits-
“Forward, peasants! Onward towards Yugakure! The Norihime Family doesn’t pay you to simply idle around!”
Lee and Guy immediately begin to pull the cart. Guy seems like he’s enjoying himself, while Lee is loudly huffing and puffing as he struggles to keep pace with his sensei.
“Faster! Faster! 10,000 Ryo for you both if we make it there before nightfall! Ohohohohohohoho!~”
The speed at which Lee and Guy are pulling increases, and you begin thundering down the southern road….

The plan seems to be going well- at least, you’re having fun. You haven’t run into any bandits, but you’re sure the plan is foolproof. How could they resist?
Sakura and Hinata seem to be enjoying themselves, playing at being your “ladies-in-waiting”, and taking a moment now and again to tease Sasuke as he drives the carriage- you join in as well. He deserves it for grumbling.
Nori is peering out the window; she doesn’t seem particularly interested in the fun. Maybe she’s focused on the mission, or maybe it’s something else?

I literally blew two hours of a session because my faggot player thought that he could flank a person in 5e because there was a pc behind him. Said PC was currently paralyzed by a hold person spell, and as the DM, I ruled that no, the player could not in any way shape or form consider that a "flanking" action.

If your player keeps arguing after you've made your ruling, say something like "Regardless of the actual merit of your argument, I'm making a judgment call on the basis of my role as arbiter of the rules. I want to keep to keep the game rolling and not get bogged down in a debate over the minutiae of the rules, so please set your objections aside for now. You can talk to me after the game is over if you want to challenge this ruling going forward, but this one needs to stand so we can make progress today."
If there is more argument, then something like this might be appropriate: "As GM, it's my job to make decisions like this so please don't turn this into a fight. If you have overall objections to my performance as GM, we can discuss that after the game is over, but in agreeing to play a game with me as GM, you've agreed to my authority over the game. I'm the guy you chose to put in charge. So please let me do my job."
And if there is still argument: "Stop. I've made my ruling. You are wasting everybody's time and turning what should be a fun game into a heated argument. Nobody wins. I'm sorry you think that I am misapplying the rules, but that's my mistake to make. And ultimately, as per rule zero, my authority supersedes that of the rulebook. So not only am I the one tasked with rendering judgment in cases of dispute, but I am also authorized to overturn existing rules as I deem fit. Play the game or don't play the game, but I've made my final decision on the matter at hand."
And if they still object: "I'm through discussing this. Accept my ruling and play, or walk away from the table. Those are your only options."
Could always beat the fuck at his own game by being up to date with rules.
In any game you play, not just D&D, do you or other players spend money on stuff that isn't directly adventurer gear? What's your thought on "roleplay" spending?

I have tried D&D. I've played 2e, 3.0, 3.5, PF, 4e, and 5e.
I have gripes with all of them. But some of them are still in my top 10 rpg systems.
Of the bunch, my preference is 3.pf.
However right now I'm sick of D&D and would rather play /discuss other games.

I'm working on a 5e campaign for a few friends, the majority of which is taking place in one, large city.
I'm as creative as a rock so all I've managed to do is come up with the base wall design and a few ideas (very few) of placements.

So what I've got so far:
Green circle is the entrance, but I'm thinking the blue circle should be the ACTUAL entry point, with the black Xs being guard towers or something.
The purple Xs are supposed to be where grass is, but I'm not super sure how far back it should go. The red area is going to be either a coastline or a cliff overlooking the ocean, with the yellow lines and ? marks representing where I think water should go. There are ? marks because I wasn't sure how far to go with it either.
Feel free to take the basemap picture in the OP and edit it how you see fit, any and all suggestions are helpful. I can't map for shit.

We tend to use spoilers for OOC chat, but nothing is set in stone.
We tend to use greentexts for describing a character's actions, but again nothing is set in stone.
Use d20s for combat checks and d100s for other things you want to roll, higher Is better.
