Hi fa/tg/uys.
I haven't been on here in a really long time, and I don't know if /tg/ still gets things done, but I was inspired 5 years ago to write a game of my own.
The character sheet for the game is attached. Let me know if you'd like to see more. I'll be posting a few other things. I need feedback on the game, and I've sort of started a patreon for it, but I'm probably not going to link to it here.
Everything about this game was personally written or made by me.

Epic bait. Gilgamesh is looking at that and thinking to himself
>Damn, I could only top that on a good day.
>>47875642
I'm not sure how this is bait. I just want people to play my game. Posting some rules in this and the next few posts.

This probably isn't formatted particularly well, and it's not in anything like a book format, so I'd like to know if this is intelligible to anyone else.
If demons were bound to hell, or a similar dimension, what advantages or uses could they get for making bargains, deals or pacts, besides owning souls?
I'm thinking of something for a D&D campaign, in which demons of increasingly higher power can take larger and larger body parts in return for skills, but what use could they have for body parts in the real world?
Well, depending on how much you want to stick with the "bound to hell" part, perhaps the body parts serve as an anchor in the real world. Sort of like a lich's phylactery. Maybe it doesn't allow them to manifest in the physical world, but does grant them additional power in their home dimension? Or, maybe they build flesh constructs out of the body parts they take, using these to retrieve magical McGuffins in regular reality by proxy.
Or maybe they're just sick fucks and like to hurt people, and enjoy seeing people give up their physical body...

Flesh construct is a pretty good idea, should tie in nicely to a totally-not-Dracula who lords over his subjects and demands a blood tithe.
Of course, all that blood isn't just for him.
>>47875467
Demons have endless fun torturing you. If you plead them to stop, they will use you as a tool to spread suffering and misery to others. To interact and make pacts with them you have to essentially dismiss protection of gods. You can have all power you want but you won't enjoy it for long.
any anons read the edge chronicles?
the lore surrounding it is cool as fuck (especially the fauna and flora)

Mah nigga
I loved those books as a kid and I still do. I don't know any other fantasy world so far off the standard tropes and still so vivid and natural.
I didn't really like The Immortals though and now I'm afraid of starting the new trilogy.
>>47876127
Then there's the skyships of course.

There was a really elaborate RPG /tg/ was writing based on it. It was incredibly complicated and used massive tables to resolve the simplest things.
Post ideas for the new lili in EMN? Tell others why you're happy they don't work for wotc.
What do you want? Not want? etc...
I'll start:
Liliana, Innistrad's Last Hope 2BB
+2: Put a 2/2 zombie onto the field
-3: Each player sacs 2 creatures
-8: Search target opponent's library for any number of creature cards and put them into play under your control. They are zombies in addition to other types.

An impending dickening.
>That one game you'd love to run, but that you're probably the only one interested in actually playing
What it is, /tg/? Bonus points if it requires a homebrew system.
For me it'd be a game about being a professional racer in a Formula One season (hence pic related) or any other racing discipline. Instead of being on a party, each player is a driver for a separate team/manufacturer, getting into personal drama between each race, and competing against each other on the race weekends. Basically, pic related as a game.
>>47874590
That sounds quite interesting actually. Since I'm not a fan of F1 really, I'd like there to be some sort of table you roll on for each race. By and large, nothing happens and someone wins, but there's a chance for foul play and crashes to occur.
My dream game is about Paladins in a High Fantasy setting, but I just can't bear to play DnD/PF/Fantasycraft. And I dunno what I would play, Dungeon World didn't scratch the itch.
>>47874590
Talislanta.
Such a cool world, people only remember the "no elves" ads back in Dragon magazine.
>>47874590
I actually have two games I'd love to run, but it would have to be online in a chatroom due to my current location not being good.
Game #1: One Piece, game based on the anime/manga series where you assemble a crew and go on adventures in such for action and treasure. Players would be able to pick a crew class and a battle class that helps the crews out in different ways. I also had races figured out as well as abilities, locations, choice between being a pirate, bounty hunter or marine.
Game #2:...

Didn't realize Grognak was a meme. I just chose the name because I figured "oh he'll only survive a day" so I gave him the first Barbarian name that popped into my head.

How viable a weapon would a hammer be for a samurai?

Same as the giant, studded club they used.
Can it kill my enemies? Yes? Then we're good.

I suspect it's not a common weapon by any means, and you might get some weird looks by the traditionalists, but they existed.
Big stronk hammer>tiny metal toothpick
Anybody got any really good ideas for tactics that can be employed by a D&D party to increase survivability as much as possible?
Preferably edition-agnostic and based more in real-world logic than number crunching.
Shit like making use of bottlenecks, taking the high ground, standard operating procedures like having the thief throw the door open and the fighter be the first one to step through with the MU behind that, ready to cast spells if need be.

As there's no active Civ thread, and it's been a while since I ran one, here we go! We'll start by voting, and the rules will be explained as we go. the most popular race/location will be selected, just post one or two votes and I'll decide after listening to the majority. When that's decided, I'll explain the rules.

Is specialist better or worse than exceptional?
>>47872135
Never mind, I'm really god damn blind. My apologies.
>>47872135
Better, it means that their basically the paragon of that specific attribute.
I'm playing in a new 5e campaign. In the past, I've always avoided Cleric. I've thought about running Clerics before, but I always end up feeling like Clerics in 5e seem to be mediocre hybrids of other classes.
Most of the "Divine Domains" in the PHB seems to be themed around one of the other classes:
Light/Tempest - Wannabe Sorcerer/Wizard
Nature - Wannabe Druid
War - Wannabe Fighter/Barbarian
Trickery - Wannabe Rogue/Bard
Life - Wannabe Paladin
Knowledge - Wannabe Wizards
So what am I really gaining by running a...

I dunno, maybe some people like a 'jack of trades' class?
>>47872029
>>full caster fighter
>>sorcerer with full plate
>Druid with heavy armor
Yeah why would you want to play something like that
>>47872029
I'd say an auxiliary front line fighter with full spellcasting for buffs, control, utility, or healing. Our group has a melee cleric that partners up with the Fighter near constantly and they are quite effective at holding the line. Bonus points for him going out of his way to position himself for flanking, which the fighter and I (the Rogue) are always thankful for.
Also Bless is an awesome spell. Shit saves lives

Nice shit post. The topic is shinning, not acting like a summerfag fuckboy.
lol, great natty 20 story, epic!
I once made a barbarian who intimidated an avalanche to survive it, I rolled a 20 so the GM had to let it happen
I said he survived by posing at it LOL
>adding an increasing penalty to rolls at every 10 or 20% step of hp loss
>surpassing a certain amount of damage of a single hit can deal extra damage (f.e. 6 damage is dealt normaly , 10 or more gets additional 10 damage because it deals a severe wound)
any more ideas?
duh
>>47871668
single-hit damage thresholds that, when exceeded, force a character to make a check to prevent being
1) knocked down
2) knocked out
3) killed outright
Basically what GURPS does. GURPS is the best system I've seen for showing that you don't fight as well when wounded. (GURPS also gives characters a penalty to a wide variety of things immediately after taking damage, simulating the difficulty of accomplishing things when in sudden, acute pain.)
>>47871712
this is good , but i would need some ideas that can be used on higher granularity systems and very different powerlevels
