Your party was just awarded a run-down old castle by the king to do whatever you want with. It's very old, uninhabited for centuries, ruined and might or might not be haunted by a spirit of indeterminate origin. What is the most sensible way you would make use of this place?

Hey I've gotten into a group of 4, I only know one other person will be a dwarf fighter and we're all going to be noobies, and I'm itching to play a Paladin. We're going to be playing Lost mines apparently.

Also I know that a paladin doesn't have to be LG in 5e, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to be following one. Also again, suggestions to make the backstory more interesting would be very appreciated, thank you friends.

How do you effectively pull off a dark plot-twist?

The same way you pull off any plot-twist: drop enough hints, however subtle, to set it up beforehand--preferably so that a certain narrative starts forming in your audience's minds which you can then subvert--and then pull the shocking swerve at a moment of high dramatic tension.
Foreshadow Subtly
Make the players attached to the character.
Make the event happen quickly focus heavily on the aftermath, do not describe the event itself in detail but be sure to describe the aftermath in plenty of detail.

Was there ever an official printable/downloadable SRD covered by the OGL for Fourth Edition Dungeons & Dragons?
Google results suggest there wasn't.
If there's no SRD, how does one confirm what does/doesn't fall under the OGL?
Played the Redbox with some friends and came to realize I really do like the base mechanics, and I want to work on a house-ruled/revamped version for us; trim some fat and retool some of the weaker elements.

A player in my superhero rpg has a 'Power Mimicry' ability; copying the powers of the superbeings around her.
What fuckery can I pull without being too blatant?
eg I'm tempted to see if she'll chase after a flying hero and find herself powerless 80ft in the air.

The main one I can think of is pitting her against enemies with the power to change or alter their bodies in uniquely unusual ways, and then allowing those enemies to die while she is similarly altered. Without their power to mimic, she's effectively stuck like that, at least for a while.

Are there any limits on what types of powers can be mimicked? Like, she thinks someone can fly but it's really magnetoboots or something.

I used Traveller but each character had a fourth layer of Health representing Kinetic Barriers their suits or Biotics generated.
Biotics I mostly based on Psionics since they're really just a slightly-more-plausible stand-in for space magic anyway.

there's a pretty well fleshed out fanmade Fate hack for it. It's too big for me to post the pdf here, but i'm pretty sure there's only one mass effect Fate system. It's given a lot of satisfying crunch to an otherwise kind of light system, while maintaining Fate's emphasis on narrative. I ran it for about a year and never once regretted it. Only trouble is that the pre-made enemies aren't quite properly balanced. It's generally better just to stat up your own after a while...
