There is something I always wondered about fantasy settings how are the adventures able to not shit themselves when they see monsters or supernatural phenomena? I mean I can understand mages but a fucking thief or warrior who used to fight other warriors? Makes no sense if a let's say Crip found a demon in da hood you think he would go ''shiet nigga gotta bust some clips in this mothafucka''? No, he would run away.
11 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>47891269
depends how common magic and monsters are in the world, and how extreme an example they are seeing.

I mean, even if mages and magic are semi-rare, but most cities have a few capable of doing magical things, then even if the warrior or thief doesn't often see magical things, they will have seen them at least a few time, and heard about them a lot.

Or they might have scene stepping stones up to that level. Like, demons are rare and kinda freaky, but they've seen trolls and minotaurs before, and so it's not completely out there.

But again, depends on the setting.
>>
>>47891305
Trolls are more like animals or another sentient race (depending on the setting) than a monster I mean a hunter saw boars and bears but that doesn't mean he would take a T-Rex well.
>>
>>47891337
take on, maybe not. Freak out, less likely.

A hunter who's only shot at coyotes, might not be able to take on a bear, and might be sensibly afraid. But he won't shit himself, and if he has a big enough gun to kill the bear, would be confident he could kill it. That same princible would extend up to the t-rex, just a much bigger gun.

The reason a hunter would freak out about seeing t-rex is that it would not be a thing he would expect and know about how they act. But if t-rexs were a thing that existed in the world, and they had heard about, it would just be another step up.

Hello man-things I'm trying to understand what the fuck fuck is this ''love'' you speak of?
35 posts and 9 images submitted.
>>
>>47890933
Very stupid people get a very strong desire to breed and some call it love. In actuality it's an overhyped concept written about in books a lot because people want what they can't have.

Like giant metal golem literature, for example. People will never have it, but they still want it.
>>
>>47891304
he's probably confused because skaven females aren't sapient. That throws things off.

I'm thinking about getting a leather cup for dice rolling purposes.

The problem is that so far, all I've found are $50 ones that look okay but I can't justify $50 on a cup, alongside $20 plastic cups with an ugly dragon on them and $20 badly made tiny leather cups that can only fit three or four dice.
>>
how about pouches ? to keep dice inside and maybe character sheets and the like... ?

Suppose I give one of my players a (unmagical/mundane) sword or mace made of an especially dense metal, like, I dunno, uranium or plutonium or osmium (of course I'd change the name to something fantasy-like so it wouldn't be jarring), how would this affect base damage?
For example, in D&D 3.x:
A Medium steel Battleaxe for medium creatures weighs 6 lbs according to the Player's Handbook.
Making it out of uranium (almost 3x density) would make it around 18 lbs.
Would that affect damage? Or is that not enough of a weight increase to warrant such?
What about made-up metals that are extremely dense, that would make it weigh, say, 90 lbs.
Would that be enough to, say, make it count as a weapon sized for Large creatures, along with the penalty to attacks?
What about autistically heavy weapons? Like, say, pic related (in real-world myth, if I recall correctly, nothing's special about Mjolnir by itself except it weighs 2 tons), or you're fighting an avatar of the Demigod of Blades and his is somehow made of the material of the core of a dwarf star, which would weigh (if my math is right) about 255 tons. Assuming he has the Strength score of, I think, 82-85 minimum to swing that sucker around, what would happen if it happened to connect with your player's sternum?
14 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
For something like 5e, add a strength requirement and give it +1 damage on top of normal damage.
>>
Now what if a big guy wore full-plate forged from a dwarf star? What would be the AC of that thing?

Have you ever invented a spell, or wanted to invent a spell but your DM said no?

I once tried to weaponize a chain of non-lethal spells. I came close to my dream of an orbital Mount spell mass-driver system.
>>
There's an arcane Faerun spell called the Symbul's sequencer, which converted any amount of spell slots into healing at a terrible efficiency rate, but was still a cool spell because it was arcane healing and made use of largely useless lower level spell slots.

I invented my own sequencer, which converted spell slots into raw damage. It was horribly unbalanced and dumb, and was something to the order that if you expended all your spell slots of 7th level and lower, you could deal over 1,000 damage with a single spell, reflex half.

Why, I would gain the trust of the noble goblin tribe and slaughter the feeble peasants! I would then convince the goblins to fight under my banner of House Salzaharius and march on to conquer the Sword Coast!

... I should do this in Friday's session, in fact, I will demand to the Dungeon Lord that this be done! It will be done, I beckon thee to rally to my banner, harken my call goblinoids! Today, the village, tomorrow the world!

Anchors Narrator: After deeply insulting the elves and scaring them away, our threesome of heroes make their way to the Skaven hellscape. Little did they know, they were being closely followed by the sinister assassin that sam-fishered the shit out of that wizard in the first episode. However, little did they know they were being watched by the rat fuck wizard…

Looking for assistance in creating a Scandinavian-style setting for my players and ideas for what adventures and quests could take place in such a world to justify the inevitable bouts of mead consumption and Saxon murder.

Humans, light elfs, dark elfs, dwarfs, and jotun of many kinds roam these lands, but what other creatures, races, and monsters from Scandinavian folklore could exist? Has /tg/ ever played in a Norse setting and, if so, do they have any wisdom to spare?

Or, you could have them retrieve artifacts for me. I am in need of a Book of Vile Darkness, or a Staff of Evilness! I'll give you plenty of money, and alcohol, and don't forget plenty of innocent people to murder.

I'm planning to start a RPG campaign in a world that is entire an alegorie to the real world. All the races in the game will be the tinny as possible, like gnomes, frogs and insectoid faeries.

Well, I need ideas for enemies, with images if possible. Recalling that in this case, everthing is very small and humans have titanic scale.

Which of the following acts causes a paladin to fall?

> Deliberately killing an innocent man to save another innocent man in a diabolical scheme
> Deliberately killing an innocent man to save what he thought was another innocent man but was actually a lich
> Accidentally putting on the helm of opposite alignment
> Accidentally giving the helm of opposite alignment to his paladin friend, causing him to fall, then subsequently killing him because he was acting evil
> Accidentally leaving a shop with goods in his pocket
> Looting what he thought was a dungeon but was actually somebody's home
> Looting what he thought was a dungeon but was actually a temple to his god
> Sleeping with an underage person who assured him she was 18
> It also turns out it was his sister
> Killing an innocent man while under a spell
> Killing an innocent man because he drank a potion causing berserk rage that was served to him as beer
> Having his god die somehow
> His god has become chaotic evil somehow
> His order has become chaotic evil somehow
> His order is telling him to kill innocent people so he rebels but it turns out those innocent people were actually evil sorcerers
> Choosing himself to live instead of an NPC in a diabolical scheme where he gets to choose who lives

Also it's way more fun to scheme than to tell people to not play paladins so shut up.

Hm assuming that paladin is a paragon of his / her god's domain.

And that gods sometimes happen to be ascended mortals.

Why not go with god having middleage crisis and swapping its own alignment to neutral.
At least, untill it found new purpose and domain, after partying in mortal realm, bedding hoes and drinking heavily.
>>
>>47889395
Depends.
On.
Setting.
(and DM)

In brightright or Points of Light. NONE of those cause a paladin to fall. They keep their powers to the day they die.

Are there any good systems for doing a boxing RPG, /tg/? Something that appreciates the difference between a jab and a cross and has room to roleplay training montages. Even if it's crunchy as hell I know my group won't mind.
12 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
There was one early 2000´s, Boxeo Izarrak, based on Basque legendary boxers, but the system used a D30 and movement tables...
>>
Fate? Remake the skill list to include all punching stuff, and let the training be situation aspects you gain.
>>
>>47888657
You could do this in GURPS, but you probably know that already. Use Last Gasp and Martial Arts for nice details and fights that can end with fighters too tired to defend themselves.

>Jeskai control using Nahiri to fetch Emrakul.

Jeskai control gon be dope in standard
>>
>>47888138

Depends on what we get in the new set. Standard is all WX aggro at the minute from what I've seen.
>>
>>47888005
you didn't need game mechanics.
In the lore Nahiri wanted to fuck over Innistrad, and was bringing something to Innistrad. And Emrakul was missing.

What did you think the person who has been dealing with Eldrazi for millennia, and knows how to manipulate them, was bringing to fuck up a world?

Once she and her motives were spoiled, there was no more question.

Does anyone know where I could get my hands on these? I remember buying them as a kid when I lived in Taiwan and I ended up giving them to a friend I no longer speak to. Would love to purchase authentic ones.
