I usually just use paper, but I'd prefer having a map on my computer, especially if I can add notes to it. All the good software I've found seems to cost a lot of money.

What kind of servant or warrior race would a wizard or cabal of wizards create?
Would they be reisitant to magic so that they could better defeat rival wizards, or more susceptible to magic so the wizard could better support his henchmen/army?
What other traits would a wizard prioritize?
Lets assume that differing greatly from anything found naturally in a setting would cause the cost per individual to be prohibitive.

How do I make the traditional fantasy races actually interesting?
Use them creatively in line with the themes and tone of your setting. It's not that hard.
The same way you make any fantasy race interesting.
I really wish I could use non-traditional races, but every group I play with can't handle things because they're too unfamiliar.

I'm pretty sure trying to make a paper turkey would get you shot in the Sioux Nation. They've probably reverted to some old First Nations holiday schedule, with everyone getting a few free days a year to take off as they see fit for religious reasons. Helps that they don't bow to the corps.

“Yes Ser Lucas, let us be off,” you say finishing pulling your silvered hair back into a half ponytail allowing a mantel of silver to brush against your shoulders.
You were to meet with Lord Quentyn in the Tower of the Sun, and from there travel with him to your mutual dinner not soon after. Lucas chattered into your ear of small things, of Knights and Ladies of the court, your cousin Wesley had made a solid showing amongst the lists of a little meaningless tournament the bored Knights had thrown together the past few days. Other Knights had taken an interest in your Melee in the coming months, perhaps a few participants of Dorne would attend which sounded pleasing to your ears. But your mind sat elsewhere, Lord Qorgyle seemed moved by your earlier words in regards to the peace talks, if your information held true he was among the last holdout Lords you had a brief chance to sway his mind in your favor and you would have completed your, albeit small, mission here.
An squire in the scarlet and black of House Qorgyle meets you at the foot of the spiral staircase in the foyer of the Tower of the Sun. He looked like a far younger version of her Lord, perhaps Lord Qorgyle’s son? The lad smiles to you brightly seemingly aware of your House’s colors and stumbles into an introduction with a bow, you catch the name Arron and smile back to the boy bidding him lead on. He darts off and you follow after your stride as full and strong as it had formerly been you felt more comfortable on your leg now and were thankful for Benjin’s quick work. Your trip is short, Arron leading you into a side passage on the third floor and you emerge into a solar, Lord Quentyn already waiting for you, with Ser Symon Santagar to his his side, dressed in far less splendor than the Knight that had your back. The two Knights exchange glances and you meet eyes with Lord Quentyn giving a sharp nod in greeting.
“Ser Symon, would you take Arron, the Lord Brynden Malroy and myself need speak privately a moment,” he says without moving his eyes from your own.
“Of course my Lord, come Arron. Ser Lucas would you grant me a moment over a cup or two?”
Lucas looks to you and reads the allowance in your eyes, “Of course Ser Symon. Lord Qorgyle, a pleasure.”
“Very good. Lord Malroy, the same,” Ser Symon says. The two Knights leave off with the young boy and you are left with Lord Quentyn, the room quiet barring the buzz of the yard below.

Yes! I have one where the currency is in hundreds, if not thousands, of separately minted/distributed bank note currencies, precious metal currencies, electronic currencies, crypto currencies, and commodity currencies. I have my players a big excel sheet of the ones they're likely to interact with.
Sup /tg/, lets talk campaign length
I have always been part of or run pretty long running campaigns (1+ year long with a session a week) but recently I started running three session long mini campaigns. (In the WH40K RPGs) and have found these to work really well.
So I was wondering what other fa/tg/uys feeling are on campaign length. Do you think longer campaigns are better? Do you go in to them with a set number of sessions in mind?
Personally I like the tighter feel of these shorter games. It allows for more drama to happen in a shorter period of time...

When I run I do it for several months (think like 20 sessions-ish), running every week. Completed several campaigns like this. That said, I don't go in with a very specific number of sessions. I'd rather let things progress naturally and end the game when it makes the most sense.
Generally whenever I see a '1 year+' game, it's dragged out somehow (regular cancelled sessions, bad pacing or usually both) and eventually dies due to the GM flaking more and more. I've seen, idk maybe...

well the three session thing is being framed around one major even. So each set of chars get to take part in another part of the event.
The problem I had when I was running games that ran longer was I usually had a end game I was trying to steer things towards and it ended up fucking things up. I am not much of a fan of the completely direction-less play style of game.
The 1+ year games where back when I actually went a physically met up with the people to play so it was also just a social thing....

I'm working on a small CSM force for more casual play, because lord knows I'm not going to be competitive with them and they're more of a re-introduction to learning the game. Either way, I've got a pack of chaos terminators lying around and I wanted to build em. Normally I'd want to convert and do all lightning claws but only the lord will have em.
Anyway, if I just build them with the shit they come with, most likely a Reaper and a heavy flamer with a combi bolter and chainfist in the squad, will they even be worth taking just in casual games?...

They aren't awful, they're just a bit overpriced.
They will perform great against lighter infantry but get smashed by other termies. A land raider makes them so much better.
