Good evening guys. Let me know when you arrive. Also, do you have any suggestions for the best buffs for a party, assuming you have about 10 minutes to cast them, but you are not going with them? Metamagic feats are alright, too. 3.x
As usual, let me know when you are here.

Zoe is olev, here.
Good afternoon /tg/, for your enjoyment, part two of an ongoing Undead Reef civilization quest.
Previously: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/44630173/
Yorik Darkemind's phylactery was released from an unknown period of bondage, and several undead servants were raised or dominated.
Unfortunately, Yorik was captured in a net, and is currently suspended twenty feet in the air.
Furious, Darkemind summons a wave of heatless, black flame, shrouding himself with it. He thunders down with authority at the shaking natives, while the feral vampire bares its fangs.
"How dare you attempt to impede Yorik Darkemind! You will suffer the consequences of your pathetic efforts!"
One of them drops a spear and legs it, and though the other two appear to be terrified, they hold their spears tightly, ready to give battle to the remaining zombie and vampire.
>Command Zombie/Vampire
>Blast one of the natives with a mana-bolt
>Incinerate the net, despite the twenty foot drop
>Write in?
((Good morning OP))
>>Command Zombies to generally impede the natives whilst the vampire does his work. We will save the mana bolt for the shaman as a display for any survivors for intimidation purposes.

"What did you roll again for these ability scores?"
"I rolled with everyone else, weren't you paying attention?"
"Oh, ok... what class did you say you were playing again?"
"This one I found on a forum, I showed it to you before and you said I was cool to use it."
"Ah. Could you show me how you got all these skills at level 1?"
"I left that book at home tonight, sorry, I'll show you next session."
"*sigh* Just gimme your back-story then..."
"So she's an orphan right? But she was raised on a desert planet just like Luke Skywalker! She lives in a wrecked walker, and she scrounges the desert every day for a meagre living.
She looks rough on the outside, all wrapped up in rags, but underneath she's actually hot!
But she's also a master mechanic, an ace pilot, a great shot with a blaster (although she doesn't have a blaster, and has never used one before. I figured one would come up in the campaign sooner or later).
She's a skilled fighter both hand to hand and with a staff. She can speak Droid, and Wookiee, as well as Basic and all these other languages. She's really smart.
She's force sensitive, but she can use Jedi powers better than anyone, and a lightsaber, even though she's never been trained! She can resist torture, and move through a massive military base unseen like a ninja. Even though she lived her childhood on a hell planet fending for herself, she's kind to lost droids and quick to make friends! Anyone she meets instantly trusts and likes her, offering her jobs, sending her on vital missions, etc. etc."
"Does she have any flaws? At all?"
"Oh yeah, her flaw is that she's too loyal and faithful. She still thinks that one day her parents will come back for her. She doesn't let it affect her though, she just thinks it. Ooh, you could use the parents as a plot hook later in the campaign!"
"I see. The others are waiting for us, I suppose we better get started. I think they rolled a renegade Stormtrooper and a pilot."
"This is gonna be awesome!"
You wouldn't be saying any of this if she wasn't a woman.

Nice blog
You are Tsukuda Ryouta, a Shinigami of the 12th Division, an investigator of abnormal occurrences.
You've been deployed to the Human World's Berlin to track down a human with the ability to use Kido, the spellcraft of the Shinigami. Having already used those spells in the past to disrupt the operations of the spiritual agents, the human in question is potentially dangerous. Your mission is not to engage him directly, but to simply identify him. But whether or not searching for him is easier than disposing of him remains to be seen.
...Well, disposing of him might actually be part of your obligations now. You'll be given a bonus if you do, as per slaying a Hollow, and while you don't feel particularly thrilled by the prospect of increasing your wealth, the energetic partner you've employed in exchange for a part of that reward does. Thankfully, the investment seems to be already paying off, as Kirino Moeka, the Shinigami in charge of the area you're assigned to investigate, tells you about a series of gruesome murders occurring around these parts.
"There's a house - a mansion - about thirty minutes from here. Bodies keep getting found there, I think. From what I understand, they're all females, and all are missing their legs. I don't really keep up with it." The young redhead explains, nonchalantly and calmly. "I don't know if this has anything to do with our guy, Ryouta-kun, but it's the strangest thing I can think of seeing recently, other than those paper tags I found."
She suddenly smiles proudly, puffing her chest up a bit. "I can lead you there!"
Moeka seems rather excited at the prospect of being helpful.
...
>"Please lead me to the mansion."
>"They probably keep files related to the case at a police station. I’d like to look into that first."
>"Have you investigated the mansion?"

For seven hundred years, a lone star ship has drifted through space carrying the necessary resources to begin a deep space colony in a far off star system. As the ship enters the stars gravitational well, its supercomputer wakes up the command staff from their long-sleep pods. The future of the colony rests on their shoulders, and theirs alone.
First things first, we need a sponsor(UN, Superpower, Multinational Corporation, etc) and an ideology/ system of government. First idea that gets three votes gets picked. Roll a d100 when you vote to see how much the sponsor invested in the colony.

Sponsor: Future-Hebrews. After the negroid hordes were 'liberated' from the shackles of the white devils, the financiers of their revolution were quickly turned upon. Fearing for the safety of God's chosen race, the Jews of Earth created a colony ship and launched it off into the sea of stars to start anew.
System of governance: Oligarchy. Six seats, with a seventh perpetually empty to signify God's day of rest on the Sabbath. Those with the highest net worth sit on the chairs. Every two years, a monetary census is conducted, and Oligarchs either continue to rule or are replaced by those more successful than them.

It's funny – although perhaps “strange” would be a better word – but there are certain things about life that you've never really thought about. Particularly, why it is that you're alive. What, exactly, is your reason for living?
And what would you do if that was suddenly taken away from you?
It's a question that has become especially relevant, now that you're looking at the broken, bed-bound girl in front of you. With one eye gone and her right hand taken from her, it's hard to imagine her ever being able to fight again. By her own admission, fighting was the only thing that Petra was ever good at – although, a cruel voice whispers in the back of your mind, she wasn't good enough. What, then, is left for her when she can't fight any more?
You don't know. You CAN'T know. Having already turned down one offer of help – the details of which still elude you – it's hard to guess what dark thoughts are running through her mind. It could be that she needs time to recover, to move past her traumas, but you know that time is not an unlimited resource.
But you'll make time. Petra deserves that much.
>>44642114
You sit by her bedside in silence for some time longer, unable to fill the void with any comforting words. Earlier, Petra had seemed younger – her unbound hair and blank eye giving her the appearance of a traumatised child – but now you realise that you were wrong. She looks old, so terribly old and infirm. It's almost enough to suggest some withering curse or poison, but nothing that sinister could have escaped the healing she has already received – could it?
Before you can stumble too far down that dark alley of paranoia, you see Petra's lips move softly, forming words that cannot break the silence. Rubbing the tightly bandaged stump of her right arm, she swallows hard and repeats herself. “Blind spot,” she rasps, the fingers of her left hand brushing against her eyepatch, “I couldn't see it coming. So...” she falters for a moment, “I should not have been fighting.”
After that proclamation – understated, and yet undeniably painful – Petra lapses into a cautious silence. Waiting, perhaps, for some kind of response? She may have to wait for some time, in that case, as the words refuse to come to you. What does she need to hear, at a time like this? Brutal honesty – if she can't accept her injuries, she'll only make them worse – or a more comforting approach? Considering how defeated, how broken, she looks, you wish you could offer her a glint of hope – even false hope would do, for the time being.

"You are worth more than that. You just being here when I woke up in this terrible place is worth way more than how strongly you could swing a sword. If I were alone, without you or the others, I don't know where I'd be right now. Definitely not anywhere good. So please don't write yourself off like that. There is more to Petra than the warrior."
"It may be a small comfort, but after we finish this fight I'm positive the dumb, leather jacket wearing, teenage God of ours can fix all the damage done in this world."

So far it's hard to tell since the card pool is way smaller, but it does feel way simpler and more accessible for everyone, in a good way
Attachments now return to hand when the character dies, but plots now have a new value that caps your maximum hand size at the end of every round, which I like

>Attachments now return to hand when the character dies

>Summary: Year is 1983, Lord Voldemort was "killed" by the Boy Who Lived one year ago. You are John Apise, only child of a rich pureblood family, you started Hogwarts last year. You love potions, herbology and magical beasts. You played as the Seeker last year in the Ravenclaw Quidditch team but you couldn't win the Quidditch cup. Your house though won the House Cup, which is not a small feat. You are now in your second year.
You went to the library to research the old wizard Balerius Dorado because you suspected that you might have found his Ring for some reason when you come across him in a history book. During your research you learned that Balerius travelled a lot during his life and involved even in Muggle wars. It is said that his biggest achievement was defeating a basilisk that was creating lot of trouble for the Kingdom of the Lombards. So last thing you decided was to research this kingdom.
1/2
Hell yeah! JVA Quest is back!
>>44641670
The book mostly ignores the history of the Muggle Kingdom and the Muggles of the area, instead it focuses on the Magical history of the country. It is said that the King of the Lombards, always had a council of wizard potioneers who helped him in many matters from food tasting to alchemy. The book writes that these wizards usually just posed as regular potioneers and hide most of their powers from the Muggle King, as they saw it "amusing" to spend time with him they continued to work for him.
Sometime around the 7th century a very, very dangerous and particularly big and cunning Basilisk starts creating lot of troubles for the Lombards. Destroying many villages and killing hundreds and hundreds of Muggles. The potioneer wizards call the, then renowned Balerius to deal with it. Balerius arrives finally from Britanny and after a long and costly battle he slays the beast. Then it is said that for some matter over the corpse of the Basilisk there was an arguement and the potioneer wizards convince their Muggle King to banish Balerius without even paying him for his services. Balerius leaves the kingdom but according to the legend he steals something from the monster's dead body and curses the King and his Kingdom.
The part about Lombards and Balerius finishes here and the new chapter, "The Wonders of Al-Andalus" starts. So you stop reading this book.

Wait, so how does the chainsword work in 40k? Seems impractical to me. I've heard arguments saying that it's meant to chew through power armor with its teeth, but the chain's housing should preclude any meaningful depth and take too long to be effective in any case, right? Why does the Imperium not take the more traditional approach, i.e. an armor-piercing blade?
Is it just rule of cool, or does the lore give a better reason?
>>44640949
It has a skull for a pommel. Extrapolate.
>>44640949
It's cheaper compared to making an entire monomolecuclar sword.
Each tooth of a Chainsword is made out of some adamantium/plasteel/diamond alloy shit that is honed to such a fine edge it can sever molecular bonds, allowing it to cut through most metals in the universe- it just can't slice through thick armor like tank hides or adamantium unless buffed with a power field.
The alternative would be making an entire sword monomolecular, which is a lot more expensive, and harder to repair. With a chainsword you can just replace individually damaged teeth.
>>44640949
It's because the chainsword was made to fight Orks, which have insane bone and muscle density. They're also too stupid to be slowed by ordinary wounds. You want to do *damage*, and damage that is as hideously traumatic as possible.
The Imperium, in fact, has armor-piercing blades. We call them 'power weapons', but they're comparatively rare.
I'll add - When fighting with chain weapons, Marines don't just swing at each other. They aim for the joints of weakness. It's pretty hard to chew through armor with a chain weapon (Even though it mangles flesh like no-one's business.)
The chainsword is basically for a new paradigm of warfare, where you're fighting something that needs to be hacked to death before it dies. I mean - They're fighting ALIENS. Aliens don't have human physiology.
