Hey all,
I have come to a point in a 5e game where my character has essentially released a great evil on the world so that another more widespread evil can be possibly killed. Of course, the great evil released will inevitably be killed, as is the goal for all good vengeance paladins. Should I be forced into oath-breaking for doing so, or was I justified under the tenants of the oaths of vengeance?

You're good, man. Vengeance often demands you do questionable things. However, I wouldn't be surprised if someone else became a paladin of vengeance to exact revenge on you for releasing said evil. And I would giggle a bit if he ended up releasing some sort of evil in pursuit of said revenge, causing someone ELSE to become a paladin of vengeance, perpetuating the great cycle of destruction, revenge, and releasing evil on the world.
You aren't a "Greater Good" Paladin, you aren't a "Justice and Honor" Paladin you aren't a "Tea and Cupcakes" Paladin, you are Vengeance Paladin.
You swore Vengeance and anything that gets you closer to that Vengeance is KEEPING to your Oath.

Has anyone run Scarlet Heroes? I'm thinking of picking it up and wondering if it converts well with other OSR, if there are specifically cool parts of it, or criticisms. Is it alright for a new player? Going to be spending a lot of time with my partner, and we're stocking up on games.

A bit of sweet talk later and Zev and Renari find themselves onboard the ship, but it's not fun and games for long before we're dragged into a battle!

"Mhm. You can handle it Zev, I believe in you, and you wouldn't want to let me down, would you?" The Master replies in her sweet tone.
You don't want to of course, Tikran has been putting her faith in you since day when you came to the Academy. Teaching you as much as she could, putting you on the right path towards becoming a better Jedi. The last thing you want to do is let her down, least of all when it's something so important like this.

As you finish up your conversation regarding what the plan might be for the battle, the crew announces that they're dropping from hyper space, and the captain once more repeats through the comm that all hands should be at their battles stations.
Moving forward towards the view port, you're greeted with the sight of an incredible number of Imperial ships in front of you, with Republic vessels warping into existence seemingly every other second, already the two forces starting to engage each other.
The Battle of Rabaan has begun.
Already the immediate area in front of you is being lit up with a large variety of colors, turbolasers, ion cannons, every weapon that a ship has is currently being used in this frantic battle, and there really isn't much you can do right now to help.

You finish studying your spellbook in the morning, munching on some jam and toast. Ed has just woken up and grunts at you as he wipes the sleep from his eyes and goes downstairs to grab himself some coffee. He was still working at finding a solution to your telepathy problem when Quissonce told you and Rowe to get some sleep last night.
The two of you parted ways at Quissonce's door to return to your respective rooms, your last shared think an (I'll stay.) from Rowe. You're quite glad that breaking line of sight ends the effect. You don't know what level of shenanigans would occur if you started dreaming at each other. You relax in silence for some time before the door opens of its own volition and Ed comes to stand in the doorway. He's holding a mug of steaming liquid and gestures with his head for you to follow. You get up from the central table and deposit your plate in Muffin's reach so he can chow down on the crumbs.
Ed leads you into Quissonce's room. Eve is noticeably absent. Quissonce is sitting at her personal desk, dusty tomes with multiple color-coded bookmarks shoved in multiple places having conquered her living space. Four different empty mugs of coffee litter her work space, broken quills and crumpled pieces of paper strewn about the intellectual war zone. Quissonce is currently balancing a quill on her nose, trying her best to keep it aloft. When she spots you out of the corner of her eye she lets it fall and catches it.
You look to your wizards expectantly. “Good news first or bad news first?” Quissonce asks you.

You are Sascha, formerly of the Goathorn Tribe, and now a slave of the mighty Stonetusks. When your masters swept from the wilderness to raid your village, you joined the defense, and of course with their great strength and ferocity they swept your meagre last stand aside. You, along with those others of your tribe who survived, were taken south, beyond the mountains to the endless wasteland beyond.
At first you were scared, but with time you learned the joy of serving your masters. Some part of you though, some part always wondered whether your masters were angry at you, whether you were being punished for the insolence of drawing the masters' blood in your fervor to retain your unhappy freedom.
You were kept apart from most of the slaves, only allowed to join them occasionally, made to spend much of your time cut off from the joy of serving the masters in a quiet side cell with a half-dozen others. The slavemistress Za'ria would come to you on occasion, to question you, to watch you, sometimes she even brought you weapons to spar against each other. She said it was necessary, that the masters would prefer you retained your teeth, that it would make them like you more. You nod, letting your fingertips linger at the stout vial of baked clay at your waist, a shudder of anticipation running through you. A parting gift from the slavemistress, to help you when the yearnings become too hard to bear. You have work to do.
First, you will need to make contact with the dragon's forces. You believe there are still a few villages that the masters didn't take before their move south, the tribes living their subservient to Slaagyr, perhaps you could speak with them. Alternatively, you could scout the area, try to find one of the hunting parties or patrols to make contact with. Finally, you could simply head straight for the dragon's camp, approach his warriors directly.
