What do you think of the first half of Season 6?
There was a post on Equestria Daily asking this but that place is kind of a hugbox and most of the discussion is very generic anyway: "it sucks" "best season so far" "I love Trixie and Starlight" "MLP's target audience is six year old girls, of course you're not going to like the show, stop criticizing it and acting so entitled" etc. What do you guys think?
Personally I'm not a fan of this season. I've found most of the episodes are forgettable and the ones I do remember are because they either pandered to fans (Trixie/Starlight) or there was an incredible amount of backlash (Flurry Heart, cringey Rainbow Dash). The Hearth's Warming episode was still pretty good, but I don't remember much of it aside from Luna singing at the end.

It just doesn't feel like MLP anymore
I'm a sucker for musical episodes and episodes where the Mane 6 are actors in a play, so A Hearth's Warming Tale is now in my top 10.
Saddle Row Review was a great SoL episode where the writers got to try out the "fake reality TV interview sessions" trope from shows like Modern Family and The Office. Definitely made the season worth watching.
Gauntlet of Fire was a great adventure episode, but they're not my favorite anyway.
Gift of Maud Pie, On Your Marks, No Second Prances and Applejack's "Day" Off were weak episodes (in my opinion) compared to the rest, but they were mostly harmless.
I liked the Crystalling almost exclusively for the exploration of Starlight and Sunburst's story, something I never expected to be resolved. It was a heartwarming reunion, and totally human for Starlight to have this built-up image of Sunburst in her head, only to have him be some nobody shut-in that just never wrote home out of neglect. It hit pretty close to home, really.

The eventual goal is for this to play sort of like a cross between Minecraft and Golden Sun. It will be based partly on crafting and building things to expand the town, and partly on exploring the forest and solving Golden Sun-style puzzle-based dungeons for rare items and crafting materials.
