At the end of the Universal Century, it seemed that the countless space wars would finally come to an end, but the unending consumption had reduced Earth's resources close to zero. During this age, Earth was still the center of human civilization, and mankind sought to restore civilization on Earth. To do this they needed massive amounts of materials, which had to be mined from asteroids which were moved near to Earth. The Sackträger's predecessor, the fixed orbital elevator, was built in order to make...

That the parts of the orbital elevators were used to build the Sackträger is not true, however, as they were products of entirely different ages; The elevator collapse was such a huge disaster that as ages passed it continued to be passed down and memories and records of history ended up getting compressed and combining the records of the two completely different megastructures. Also, the helmet worn by the king of Manupiti is based on astronaut helmets from long ago. Either way,the fixed orbital elevator was never...

So yeah, I'd heard that G-Reco's setting came from this ancient (2000) Turn A book so decided to hunt down a copy and check it out. Looks like it's true. Also looks like it's spoilers.
Haven't been through the entire book yet, and that's all that I've fully translated so far, but I'll just post some other interesting bits I've found so far.
So /m/ which dark history civilization was most likely the one to create the Turn A gundam and why?
Fuck off with these threads already. Fucking Christ. They're worse than super vs real threads. Can the janitor just start deleting them now? Surely these shitpost fests are breaking some kind of rule.

None that we know of. Turn A was reverse-engineered from Turn X, so it would be someone around when Turn X drops. That has not happened in any other show so we honestly have no idea.
The Moonrace made Turn A, reverse-engineering it from the Turn X. You mean to ask who made the Turn X.
My money is on the jerk Newtypes that left the solar system, so you can blame Judau and all his descendants. They were unable to create their perfectly harmonious civilization, because Newtypes are not the perfect masters of understanding. They cause more shit than they solve. Fuck Newtypes.
Verdict Day was great. Truly the Turn A of the AC series.
Armored Core thread.
What's your favorite /m/ game?
>>11681414
Aside from any of the various SRW games, because there's so many favorites, I'd have to go with Armored Core: Silent Line.
Interestingly enough despite having played many mecha games in recent years including SRW, GGen, AC and various Gundam titles, the game I remember the most is Slave Zero on the PC.
oh all the hours i put into this baby. Dijeh and Hyaku Shiki were my favorite suits.
So with recent revelations from G Reco about the human/earth condition during the latter years of UC, we see that humanity went down a road where everyone souls were still weighed down by gravity and even went onto eating committing cannibalism.
This means that Char was always right about the earth and what would happen to mankind. His actions in CCA would have affected change if he had succeeded but Amuro single handedly set UC down a horrific grim future. All the newtypes left the solar system leaving behind the oldtypes to eat each other. The human race could've...

Oh look, another stupid thread.
Yay.
Pray tell, what was your motivation for crafting this masterpiece of a discussion? Did you want another picture of Char up on the board?

But at least by the time of Victory most of humanity was in Space and Earth was mostly uninhabited.
If the people somehow went back to Earth afterwards in order to cause all that famine mentioned in G-Reco then they're basically following Char's plan (leave Earth for space to let it "rest", only return after years), which means that it's a failure too.
Are you ready for some REAL robots in space, /m/? I know some of you were around for the awesome Mars landing a while back, and the time has come again for another historic space mission.
In a little under 15 hours (GMT 0900, 4am EST, Nov 12), the Philae lander will detach from the Rosetta craft and approach comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko and attempt a landing, which should happen roughly 7 hours later (GMT 1600, or 11am EST).

>awesome Mars landing
I remember the first time I read how they were planning to put Curiosity down I thought: 'Holy crap. What idiot approved that plan?'. They sure proved me wrong. I hope this on goes well. Hopefully there's gonna be some amazing video coming in.
Time to invade another celestial body with our automatons.
Hail Terra!

Good times.
Which non-GBF/GBF Try character from the Gundam franchise would be the best Gunpla Fighter?
Kira.
/thread
Amuro's pretty handy with engineering gizmo stuff. Kamille too.
He'd be god tier
In a world just starting with developing Mecha, who would make the best "First Generation" of operators?
I know that everyone loves to show Mecha operators as "pilots", but I can't help but feel that taking a Typhoon pilot and slapping him into a Mk. I Walker would be a terrible idea.
Leaves the question of who to use still. If I had to bet money, I'd say Tank Operators would be the best to use, but for all I know they could end up just as bad as the flyboys would. What do you think, /m/?
Pretty sure it requires new training not based on old skills
The controls on a mech would be totally different from any other military vehicle. They'd have to be totally retrained.
I think the best bet would be guys who operate heavy equipment like cranes or diggers.

The use of prototypical limbs is already there.
Kids who spent way too much time playing video games and are good at picking up control schemes.
I'm being serious. No tank or plane or any real-world vehicle experience could prepare you for controlling mechanical bi-pedal motion
The Dororo to Enma-kun manga by Go Nagai finally got scanned.
For those who don't know, Dororo to Enma-kun is a crossover manga by Nagai between Tezuka's Dororo and Nagai's own Dororon Enma-kun. It features Enma-kun and Dororo herself.
The Cutie Honey vs Devilman Lady manga also got scanned. I'll post that later as well.
Torrent links on random raws.
Post your best/worst idea for mecha crossovers.

What does /m/ think about sidonia no kishi? I'm not very familiar with the genre but I've read a lot of sci fi manga and conisider sidonia one of the best.
I'm curious what you think about both the manga and the anime. A lot of people on /a/ hated the anime for muh 3DCG, so there's that.
The tsugumori looks kind of generic I guess but all the mechas go through some drastic changes so it gets better later on.
The only good thing about the anime is the opening theme. Based angela.

Would you believe the Guardians were designed by slapping random gunpla parts together until they formed a roughly humanoid shape?
Alright, /m/
Legged tank or tracked mech?
Both
But, like, really ugly.
That's tough.
I think tracked mechs in general are cooler (they've been my favorite Armored Core set up), but the coolest legged tank would be cooler than the coolest tracked mech.

Please kill me it hurts to live.
Hi. I found this guidebook pertaining to Assault Suits Valken (link:http://g.e-hentai.org/g/674677/24134d908e/). There are mechanical profiles from p.18-23 and 27, and I was wondering, can someone here please translate?
I think those did get translated already.
I'm pretty convinced I used to even have that stuff, but I lost most of my mecha stuff when my HD crashed.
What if Amuro defected to Zeon with the gundam?
What if Kamille joined the Titans?
What if Yazan killed Jewdough and stole the zeta?
What if Ryouma died at the beggining of getter robo?
What if Haman raised Mineva properly?
What if /m/?
>What if Kamille joined the Titans?
I think this is explored in Gundam vs Zeta Gundam. I never played it, but I recall reading that he ends up getting Four as a partner.
Anyways. If Amuro defected to Zeon, Zeon would have greatly advanced technology-wise and would have easily won the war.
If Kamille joined the Titans, the Titans would have won, probably before Axis ever showed up, and would have blown Axis away.
If Yazan stole the Zeta, he'd probably have joined up with Axis just to fight more.
If Mineva was raised properly,...

What if Kamille didn't suffer barn damaige and joined up with Char in CCA?
>>11689979
I'm sure the games would have explored such scenarios.
>What if Amuro defected to Zeon with the gundam?
Zeon was fucked from the getgo, and were losing badly. A gundam on their side would have been just another super weapon that would take out a lot of units, to only be destroyed in the end. Slow down the Federation.
Actually if you remove White Base entirely, the One Year War would have still ended in Federation victory, it would have just taken longer....

I'm watching the 78 Japanese Spider-man show.
What's your thought on the series, /m/? I find the show pretty fun but I can't take it seriously with cat demon that can maul people to death.

OP confirmed for non-cat owner

no, I never had a cat because I have a cockatiel
