I'm still animating stuff at weekends for it.
I'm doing the ideas and story but the script will be finalised by my old pal Ben Wood, who's a far better writer than I and has had a house custom built in Japan from his pro videogame translator earnings. So if nothing else at least the writing will be good.
Mechmaster is still working on the main mech models. As soon as I get one, I'll do some test animation and post it up.

That was Alien. It stuck in my mind and I'm trying to get homages to films I love in there so, yeah...
Since the OVA will basically be 4 people in mechs, we're thinking the character interaction will be very "Predator."
Just with tank-style combat and that 08th MS team vibe.
Me and Ben are really keen on getting a script together that is as quotable and memorable as Robocop.
Holy shit, this is an amazing series. i only read Getter Robo Saga, but this is awesome.
It fubs off as kiddy due to the "quality" art style, but it is pretty mature for being a super robot show. I can't wait to read the rest. but i would like to discuss Saga as a whole.
My only problem was the unnecessary gore and bloodiness, but for the story it is telling, it is acceptable.

I really like turn-based or tactical RPGs where you control a squad of people. It's especially great if it's a very open-world game where you can explore and do loads of side-quests.
Unfortunately, as far as I can tell very very few games like this involve mechs. Here are a few of the ones I've found that of fit some of those criteria

Unfortunately, "that one franchise /m/ can't stop blabbering about" is shit at combined arms. Everything in it spins around the mecha: tanks, fighters and spacecraft are junk, and they're never seen working alongside the mecha.
The other "real robot" franchises (Macross, Votoms, Patlabor, FMP, Geass, etc) follow the same pattern: only mecha are allowed to shine and the rest is shit.

OP here, I have been giving that some thought and the answer is simple. There's no profit margin in it. Earth is a world that has been stripped of natural resources there's very little left, and the resources that do remain are controlled by the Megacorps who jealously guard them.
So, if the rich lives on Venus, and the corps control Mars(and I presume their factories and everything is there), where do the average human live on?
