Why didn't he go anywhere, /m/?
Why did Toho essentially produce two separate Ultraman-esque characters in the same year? Was Jet Jaguar just too different from Ultraman, compared to Zone Fighter?
In retrospect I can't help but feel like, with the movie tie-in, that Jet Jaguar's show would have been more memorable. Especially with the prospect of a non-henshin hero being unique for television of the time.
>>14424215
Y'know, I always saw Jet Jaguar as Toho's version of Jumborg Ace rather than Ultraman (Which was Zone Fighter)
I see no robots here.
>>14424291
Well, all those shows were popular at the time, with Ultraman being the prevailing one. Jet Jaguar was Toho's effort to compete with them collectively.

What does this have to do with Mega Man? This is about Mighty Number 9, the hot new series from Comcept and Keiji Inafune! It's going to be a multi-media firestorm. Movies, television, games, comics, toys, etc. MN9 is the hot new thing. I was just at a primary school a few days ago and Mighty Number 9 is all the kids were talking about.
But no really, at what point did Joel think "I should use the thing that will protect me from insanity to build my robot friends". I know you can make the easy argument of "but then there'd be no show", but Forrester showed in the movie that if Mike says no, he can just cut off the SoL's oxygen.
Couldn't he have used Rocket Number 9?
>>14422007
the robot friends did more to protect him from insanity
even if he could keep the oxygen going and prevent shocks to the shammies he'd still have been alone
Didn't he just make them out of the special parts which he'd have been able to control the movies with? Like you said, Forrester can basically fuck with him whenever and for any reason (especially i'd imagine, for not watching the movies). So it seems pretty reasonable to at least build some buddies to wisecrack your a-hole boss with to me.
>>14422052
>Didn't he just make them out of the special parts which he'd have been able to control the movies with?
He made them out of the parts that would give Joel direct control over when the movies begin and end, the theme song says so.
Picture in your mind Mia Alice getting a wedgie.

I'm enjoying watching random anons make the new threads
Pick your most recent /m/ show, comics, vidya game, or whatever.
Now replace the protagonist(s) with these folks.
What do?
Everything's going fine for the Hopper bros until they get to this fucker and his exploding shields.

This.

They will. They'll perform maintenance and give orders. They'll continue flying more humanitarian missions where a human face is needed to I suppose. The age of dog-fighting is long over though and just putting computers in the air is inevitable really.

Don't know what it is about this shot but the proportions always felt "off" to me. In promo-images/gunpla etc I rather like the Destiny, but in-series it feels kinda like they just squeezed the model to make it thinner or something.

Mazinger Z No unless you're a 5 year old kid with rose tinted glasses; Great Mazinger on the other hand absolutely yes. It improves drastically over Mazinger Z.

HAIL THE DRAGON GOD
Do I blow my load on MD?
So who else watched this? I'd like to hear from people that actually liked it, cause for the life of me I couldn't enjoy this show.
I respect it for all the shit it tried to pull off, like effectively making it a real and super robot series, and setting up the main character's conflict well. However, it all felt really cheesy and lame to me. It was like watching a slice of life anime with some robot action sprinkled in every couple episodes. Maybe I'm biased towards mecha series that are toy commercials with fights every episode, but dammit I want...

I enjoyed it, but I can certainly understand why people might not like it. I actually wish it was longer so that the world and conflicts could have been fleshed out more.
Also you have to wonder about any anime that can be described as Gunbuster meets Waterworld.
>>14418163
>Gunbuster meets Waterworld
How do you figure?
>>14418117
>It was like watching a slice of life anime with some robot action sprinkled in every couple episodes
Well that's pretty much what it was for most of the series. I see it as mostly about Leto coming to terms with the fact that he didn't have to spend his entire life waging war and whatnot and if that's not your cup of tea then that's fine.
>Best character: Chamber
No contest.
Anon quick! The world has gone to heck and you need to design a robot for your hot blooded son to pilot!
