Newtypes started off as being a very specific interpretation and set of powers, but then Zeta fucked that up and turned them into Wizards. This situation stabilized into lower powerlevels for a while, but CCA established that Newtypes + Psychoframe can do literally anything, and the setting is under no obligation to explain how AND the most impressive feats of Newtype power are allowed to be 'one time miracles' that can never happen again even if you try.
This means that any writer can have Newtypes do pretty much anything the plot demands, and anything that has been said about what Newtypes can and cannot do previously is a suggestion you can freely ignore. Any time someone new sits down to write a scene involving newtypes, they can reinvent their powers at will because they already have no consistency anyway or internal logic anyway.
Anyone who says that there is a specific list of things that Newtypes can do is either reciting their headcanon or working off of a definition of Newtypes that has since been retconned by more recent works.

Is there anything more ironic that war in gundam universes is actually caused by greedy adults who create unending war to sell more scale plastic war machines for profit? If you really don't want to read the manga first then yeah. You'll miss all of the references and the characters won't make all that much sense as they assume you know their general outline but it will be a fun ride anyway

They simply dont want to explore far reaches of space now. Probably scared by encountering more space aliens. so space faring technology stop advancing to regressing.
In Diebuster the farthest the buster pilots travel to was Pluto.
the whole point of the show was the fear of growing up and this was represented by humanity locking themselves in the solar system and staying artificially primitive so they didn't have to go out and fight the real space monsters

Don't know about consensus, but despite some rather bland, empty-looking Hasegawa art, my heart yearns for more scanlations. The story seemed pretty interesting, even if I'm not sure I like the new explanations of just what theAngel Halois, and I love Curtis Rothko. The whole false identity thing, and the way Belle doesn't know her true parentage. All these tragic repercussions of the Jupiter War and the Thunderbolt of Zeus, seems grippingly bittersweet.
