So I would like to watch an anime that is like pacific rim... teams of robos fighting giant monsters.

So I'm organizing my books and I look at this for the first time in years, and something about it seems really.... off. Or more accurately, familiar,
These space fighters look like folded up mecha to me. Some sort of flight or Mobile Armor mode or such. Does it look that way to anybody else? Are they some specific MS or other robot? It looks like a mid to late 80's thing. Maybe leaning towards Neo Zeon, I'm not sure.
Reminds me of the Jamru Fin from ZZ Gundam.

Seems like the artist edited some details, but it's basically a Jamru Fin.
How is that series? Reading up on the info on them, I'm now curious to give them a go.
Would you consider Neon Genesis Evangelion a good mecha show?
I know next to nothing about anime, let alone the mecha genre in general, and a friend recommended NGE to me. From what I've read, people are split between it being "2deep4u lol" or "an artful masterpiece that should be in a museum."
Another question I have is that is NGE a good show to watch with friends? I mean that in the sense of you and a few buds can sit down, and get the same experience from watching it yourself?

I wouldn't reccommend watching it with friends, Eva doesn't feel like the kinda show you want a shared experience with. It's at least worth analyzing solo.
It's one of those things where it's been hyped up for years as being ONE OF THE GREATEST ANIME OF ALL TIME and will probably never live up to the version of it people talk about, but even so, is worth watching and experiencing at least once.
I didn't personally like it, but it was an interesting experience and I don't regert the timesink.
Oh and FWIW, you watch all 26 episodes of the TV show and then the finale movie End of Evangelion. If you liked those, there is an ongoing reboot series of movies, Rebuild of Evangelion, which you'll just want the director's cuts (1.11, 2.22, and 3.33). There are official subtitles, a BD release, and a pretty good for the time dub.

Exaggerated to some extent but mostly real, I mean yeah some things are obviously fabricated to comedic effect but others are from off hand sources.

Well, the President playing as a huge RECAST that talks like the corniest tutorial NPC ever was pretty fun.

It's the HGUC. Comes with a shield, the beam magnum, four beam sabers, and two beam saber effect parts.
If you paid $30 for it, you kind of got ripped off: thing's $25 at the most.
I hope it at least had free shipping.
I paid 9 dollars and about 15 with the shopping and everything. I thought that came with the bazooka and some hands too. I got this pic of the beam saber and one hand only tho, im going to ask to the shop about the sabers
The HGUC Unicorn split its accessories (and beam saber effects) between Unicorn and Destroy Modes. Destroy got the magnum, Unicorn got the bazooka.
And yes, it has some alternate hands, but that's just standard for most gunpla these days so I didn't bother mentioning it.

I get that it'd be for model kit reasons, but any reason why they had to make a separate Destroid with the same purpose as the Destroid Defender? I mean, if wouldn't it have been better to just arm Defenders with missiles?

Not him, but it'z a great single player game. Try Next+ on a psp emulator and see if you like it, they're very similar
