Nothing. I like idealism and positivity in my mecha series provided it's sensible and handled with the right amount of tactwhich 00 did.

Trying to find a better way to watch Hibiki than the old and low-quality T-N version. We got the Bunnyhat raws which is great, but I don't speak Japanese, soooooo... After a few hours of research I found:
-KITSubs seems to have dropped it
-As have Deltasubs

Neither show did it well but me love some idealistic hero pilot having to sacrifice something valuable and still not coming off scotch free.
Most /m/ I know drop the ball either because the mecha is always pristine or the pilot is always pristine whenever tragedy strike.
Then again most mecha don't have a second form that have to be destroyed while at the same time being a desperate "last ditch effort" mecha being built in an unidealistic setting where the pilot don't have the luxury of a base.
Closest thing I've seen of this is Gundam G's 1st episode (before the everything is fine ending) and Getter Armageddon's Black Getter scene.

Just read my first Mecha manga and it was a pretty fun read. What I enjoyed most more than the story was really the art of gundams. So did anyone else read this and like it? I would like suggestions for other ones like this! Sorry for being a newfag on this board

I guess this is a /m/ manga thread, sounds good haven't had one in a while
read Knights of Sidonia next,the author has a very unique style and his other works are pretty good, people tend to say that Sidonia was bad because it devolved into waifu wars (well it was more of a romance sideplot which later on became more of its focus) but he does have some great hard Sci-fi concepts throughout his works.
Also he draws great architecture.

Yeah, first game was pretty terribad, probably in part due to being a really early PS2 game, but the second one is a genuinely great game. My favorite game on the PS2 in fact.

Not really. I love the weathered designs, but any threads about them die pretty fast on /m/.
I think it mostly has to do with the fact that you can just snap together these kits like you can with a Bandai Gundam. You have to paint them, and painting mecha kits isnt popular on /m/
