Just finished watching F91.
It might have been rushed and somewhat disjointed in some scenes, but for what it was it was really good, and it just disappoints me that it wasn't a full series.
Despite being extremely hectic, it did have good character details and moments, so at least the movie budget was used well. Iron Mask kind of went off the rails in the last half an hour, I can't really tell what his plan was beyond being crazy.
I love the soundtrack. I know it was meant to parody Star Wars but it's still good on its own.

They're both clusterfucks. X4S, Dark Knightmon and Metal Greymon were the best designs in the show. Seeing all the random legs and arms sticking off of the stronger forms hurts me inside

Checked and couldn't find a Digimon thread in the catalogue. Decided to start one up cause I just watched the first movie.
Man was it bad...
The new art style was just weird and made all the characters look incredibly generic. Mimi was probably the only decent looking person in the group until they changed out of their school uniforms and got a bit more color to them. The Digimon looked a little better... for what little we saw of them, anyways. None of the main 8 even appeared until more than 20 minutes in. The new girl is setting off more Mary Sue flags than Kari did. The argument between Matt and Tai felt so horridly forced. They're trying to go for some grimdark thing to appeal to adults and it feels like it just lost all soul and what made the original so amazing.
The only good things I can really say about this movie was the music was good, and the fight scenes were pretty cool. That's about it, really. Next movie's supposed to add the 02 cast though, and hopefully is better now that they have the setup out of the way. What did everyone else think of it? I wouldn't say it's the worst Digimon thing produced (it's not Hunters, after all). Still, after Tamers, Frontier, Savers, and Fusion, it was a serious let down.

The characters, and the last few episodes made up for the clunkiness of the first episodes in my opinion.
Aside from Aoi, Gun Toting Not Rei, Seimi, and Creepy Gendo were all great.
And I loved Will, if only for being able to watch Wakamotto argue with himself.

In The Origin at least Sayla takes care of them, along with the thousands of other orphans of the One Year War.
New to /m/ in general, have only really watched 00, Wing, 08th Team, and G Gundam, as well as VOTOMS, Macross Plus, and a short stint in Robotech before life caught up and I lost track of where I was. I also tried SEED, but was ultimately unimpressed. I'm still trying to slog through it.
In all seriousness, opinions aside as much as possible, what's the "best" mobile suit in the Gundam franchise? Also, what series of them all have really awesome grunt suits? My favorite is the Tallgeese, and I love the Leo, but I'm aware that neither is necessarily the best. The Leo seems to compete a lot for best grunt suit from my lurking here, but I would like some direct commentary, please. Also, how do mobile suits seem to compare to Variable Fighters? I'm not including VOTOMS in this conversation so much because I'm aware that they're built with a different scale in mind. Less "robots that have replaced most of warfare," more "niche unit that has lots of uses in some areas, but still need support like any military unit."
