Pain in the ass people use their phones in the movie theaters and fuck up the movie. It would be nice to stop them discreetly without shouting down from all the way back or being completely autistic and shining a flashlight at them (which fucks the movie for everyone). From personal experience - shields, no matter how small, make for really good bashing weapons, especially when used skillfully. Buckler would function much like a 0.5 kg brass knuckle, so I imagine that being hit in the (unarmored) head with the rim could cause a skull to crumple. So yeah, it would make one buckle.

The standard infantry units (but believe me this can vary for a lot of reasons), is that in a fire team of 4, one man will have the M203 or M320
The downside to an M203 is that it makes your rifle heavier and more awkward, and of course you have to carry a bunch of grenades somehow on your person.
