Custom gear options is basically Special Forces.
Clearly a standarization of personalised equipment doesnt work and that's why SF has relative freedom of gearing up.
It would be more effective than standard issue, but you can't get past the personal taste and allocation of stuff that will never work for everyone.

I once shot a bird. I had my target out in the field but the bird swooped down and landed by it. I lined up the shot and killed the bird, and I still feel bad about it. It wasn't do anything and I had my target set up right there, but I chose to kill this bird for no reason at all. Maybe it had babies that starved to death because their mother never came back with a worm or two.
I don't even know why I shot it. Maybe I thought I was being strong by killing something.
