The fact that they advertised it as self cleaning, and the powder used in the ammo was sub-par. They fixed it mid war, however.

This. If you actually clean the fucking thing and don't feed it ammo it wasn't designed to take, it'll be just as reliable as any other assault rifle.

And yes, that includes the AK.

Why do you need it only for long distances?

I would think they would help with taking them off hot.

I've never heard anyone talk about laser rangefinders, so I assumed they didn't use them.
>>
>>30119547
If you shoot long distance and want to know how far targets are, use one. If you want to shoot long distance and get pretty good at guessing ballistics, don't use one. Everything doesn't have to be a meme and do you really think that if they didn't work there would be so many varieties and brands?

Looking for some advice on a general-purpose shotgun for my home.

I previous had a Remington 870, and it was great. That being said, I no longer have it :(

I'm looking for a shotgun that fulfills the following criteria:
>12 ga
>Capable of firing versatile loads
>Good for outdoors, occasionally
>Short barrel (20 ish or less) for home defense
>Workhorse (durable, simple)
>Economical (under $500)

I'll be using it for home defense and occasional small game hunting (possibly large game with slugs, but from less than 50m for most shots).

I'm leaning towards the Mossberg 88, but I was just curious to see if anyone knew of some good alternatives to compare against.

Mossberg 590A1

>12 ga
>I can successfully fire those neat mini shells by Aquilla
>works anywhere
>my barrel is around 18 inches I think, I know it's a very short shotgun in comparison to others. Either way, you can easily find a barrel size to fit whatever need you have
>All steel construction, simple to take apart and clean
>I got mine for around $375 in Orlando

pic is mine, taken on my shitty phone a couple years ago, still works perfectly.
>>
>>30119222
>Mossberg 590A1
That looks damn near perfect.

Is that like a beefier version of the 500?

Thanks for the recommendation.
>>
>>30119245
From Wikipedia:

>"Both the Model 500 and Model 590 have polymer trigger guards & safeties and standard barrels. The Model 590A1 has an aluminum trigger guard & safety, a heavier barrel, and a bayonet lug (although some versions of the 590 also have bayonet lugs), intended for military use under extreme conditions and rough handling; the metal trigger guard was added in response to the 3443G materials requirements, and the heavy barrel was added at the request of the Navy to prevent barrel deformation if the shotgun caught in the closing of heavy steel ship doors."

So yes. the 590A1 is made primarily for military use, so it's a tank of a shotgun.

It's possible they won't be participating in an air-to-air combat role (perhaps only providing CAS or only in an observer type role), but this is (AFAIK) the first time they've come to Red Flag.

Sometime's I'll whisper /say "Not so big now." or "Not so big anymore." when I make a shot on my targets.

No, I don't have the autism to pretend I'm a character from a video game.

Why are women and low test men so incapable of getting a high grip on handguns? Let alone not being able to properly handle a pistol without tea cupping it. How do you train this stuff out of them?

Ruger 10/22 vs. Remington 597 vs. Marlin .22

Hello /k/ and thank you for taking the time to read this.

I'm a younger guy and newer to collecting firearms (22) and I'm looking to buy a .22 for my very humble collection.

The ones I was looking into were as follows

>10/22
>remmy 597
>marlin .22

But I am open to suggestions. I really liked the aesthetic of the tactical takedown and the tiger designed wooden stocked 10/22

My main and only concern is reliability and performance and aesthetic is very very far behind for this rifle.

Again thanks for reading and any replies are greatly appreciated even if they're just bumps.

I've read that the 597s have a lot of feeding issues and reliability issues but once you install $60~ of aftermarket parts they are easily the highest performing magazine fed .22 rifles on the market. I'm not sure how accurate this statement is tho. ~ OP

From what I've seen, MSRP is around $1300.00
