What's the point behind Short Barreled Rifles? Don't you lose tons of energy with a short barrel? Would a SMG or PDW be a better option if you wanted a CQB type weapon?
An SBR'd carbine will still be ballistically superior to both PDWs and SMGs.
Calibers like 5.56 and .308 will lose their edge out of short barrels, but other calibers like 7.62x39 and 300BLK do exceptionally well out of them. It's worth noting that there are loads that still do very well even in 5.56 SBR, so the benefits outweigh the detriments.
What you REALLY want in an SBR platform is an SBR bullpup, which retains quite a bit of barrel while being shorter than a traditional SBR ever could be.
MK18 variants are used extensively by Special Operations because they are lightweight, deliver a harder punch than a SMG or PDW ever could and can be suppressed without being super unwieldy.

New to guns here, thinking about a dedicated trunk gun for my car. What's the role of a trunk gun to you and what sort of guns do the "trunk gun" role best?
I was offered a CETME FR-8, and thought it may fill the role nicely.
A gun that I can get in case the handgun I carry on myself is not sufficient and I am driving through some place where I'm likely to encounter more than someone trying to hold me up for some pesos

Lived in Wyoming 20 sum years. Everywhere sucks, Wyoming sucks less. The wind is awful and it's fucking cold. It's also pretty libertarian and gun friendly.

As a Florida resident I have to deal with the whole "no guns where alcoholic beverages are served. I have a CCW and blatantly ignore this law for obvious reasons. I've been completely smashed hundreds of times and guess what, I've never shot my firearm.

Depends if anyone innocent bystanders were shot or not. If no one was injured, people would look the other way. If someone was injured, prepare to be charge and also sued. Would probably have a ZimZam situation though, where people donate to the cause. Fags from all over the US would just give you money for your legal defense, etc.
