hey guys I was interested in getting my pal and rpal soon and buying myself my first handgun. I was hoping on getting the colt 1991 gov issued 45 but was hoping for additional advice.

If you want a simple babby's first pistol, a 1911 wouldn't be any better or worse than any other pistol. As long as you like it it's good.

I detect a wee bit of insecurity.
Looking into buying my first gun, don't know if I should get something like an M&P Shield, Mossberg 500, or a full size handgun (also maybe a .380 like a Ruger but I heard the trigger sucks and idk about .380).
I don't have my CCW license so it would be mostly for home defense. But I would kind of like the option to take it with me because all I carry for edc right now is pepper spray. If I were to get a rifle I would probably want like an AK type and I definately wouldn't use that for home defense cuz over-penetration and shit so I think I would look for that later
. My hands aren't that big i'm only 5'9" 150 so I doubt I could conceal a full size if I get my CCW anyways, at least in the summer.
What should I buy? Also should I get it on the internet or try to find one at a store? My budget is like $800 at the most but would like to spend less than that.

I love the look of that gun but some anons said that the M&P shield is basically just as good but cheaper. I'm not sure i've only fired a few handguns, A XDS .45 a Taurus pt99 and a Browning .22

The only determining factor you should be looking at when considering the PPS is if you're partial to the paddle mag release over buttons.
It isn't too wise to buy a smaller single stack for your first gun since they're much harder to shoot and learn the fundamentals on compared to a fullsize or compact. I will say that the Shield's grip length is about the same as a Glock 19's with the 8rd extended mag however.

Can you guys tell me what he did wrong? Was he out of position? My first instinct would have been to get behind cover and shoot from there, but I don't have any training.

etching costs money to do correctly and most people use cheap scopes with no intention of shooting much further than point blank ranges (<250 yards for most centerfire rifles)
The scope on my BLR has a duplex crosshair but I can still adjust the range on it.

Because they really only anticipate pistols on the job. Some cops keep hard plate carriers in the trunk in case something big goes down, but can you imagine wearing plate carriers 8 hours a day? I went on a deployment and that shit sucks. You can't do that shit as a career.

Alright, /k/, with all shit shit that has been happening and is currently happening around the country, what can your average kommando do to ensure he could be a part of a well regulated militia should the need for one arise? I'm not necessarily talking about full blown race war or civil war or anything like that exclusively, although those scenarios should also be taken into consideration. What kind of gear and equipment should you have on hand? How much ammo should you have available? What type of skills are necessary to have and how do you gain these skills? What level of physical fitness should you be at and how to you go about reaching these goals? What are some online resources to help supplement your knowledge?
This is not a traditional "grab SKS, go innawoods" SHTF thread, although for any of this to be needed, S will likely have already HTF. The goal is working together with a group of people to help defend your family, community, or possibly your country should any of them be threatened.

Does anyone have any idea how much concrete/granite a nuke can penetrate?
Or better yet, is there any declassified government studies regarding nuclear weapons and their penetrating effect/destructive capability on various materials, specifically bunkers?
For example, how much 5000 psi concrete can a 20 megaton nuke penetrate? What about 30,000 psi concrete? Solid steel?
I know the shock wave can transmit through materials and crush/destroy objects indirectly. What I mean is, to what extent can a nuke vaporize, crumble, or break heavily fortified bunkers which are specifically designed to withstand direct nuclear hits? I know it depends on the yield of the weapon, but can anyone link to any studies/research on this, or is there none publicly available to civilians? Thanks.
The data isn't too available, but it's generally understood that Cheyenne Mountain will be fucked in the event of a nuclear war.
The most powerful conventional bunker buster, the Massive Ordnance Penetrator can penetrate 200 feet of concrete, and the nuclear versions can probably do much better.
