Hey /k/ has anyone used airsoft for training? What brands or types should one get?

yes. it's a decent trainer, which /k/ will never admit because military sponsored laser tag is SOOOO much more tactical.
regardless I wouldn't look into it too much. get an AEG made by KWA in the 300 range, they're not tip top but they'll serve you well enough and I suspect you won't be participating in the sport for long.

In its intended role, it worked. The reason it loads from the top is because having a fuckhuge box magazine is inconvenient when prone. Belts are more difficult to transport than magazines.

I know that you're trying to start bearded british youtube man shitposting but theoretically loading from top gives you more convenience when lying prone(when compared to feeding from bottom) while still being box magazine.
Although I don't think it worked in case of Bren, I know that Australian SMG - Owen, which is also loaded from top could cycle for few rounds after the magazine spring broke and then you've had to "help" it manually when you've had less rounds in the mag so there's also the reliability advantage(even if the spring breaks you still can fire, somewhat) although I don't think it worked just as well with Bren's curved magazine and rimmed cartridges.

I live in Alaska and lately there have been a rash of mail thefts by the local junkies, including some packages of mine. I would have gone with 9mm as well, but if you're getting a gun chambered in .40 S&W at least it's an S&W.
But enjoy the weird experience of buying ammo for it.

Howdy /k/ommandos, so I have a good amount of 7.62x39 and am in the market for a new long gun. Any non-AK suggestions? Already have a 74 (5.45 is expensive nowadays). I've been looking about and a PTR seems like an interesting choice, but I want to hear your suggestions.
