Let's try this.
I've been wanting to chat to more people about art and make more friends in general. So I thought it would be a good idea to post here.
I have tried on /soc/ but everyone is thirsty and such and the conversation gets a little boring.
So post your gallery and your kik or something else you use to talk to people on and let's get some chatting going.

Kik is Chainchomped .
I hope to hear from someone!

is there a reason youre too cool for the 3 already existing discord groups and the 8 skype groups?
I'm glad we can have this thread bi-weekly though,

Link to other groups namefag
>>2528646
The discord is linked to the /beg/ thread. As for the skype group you post your handle and someone will add you.
Post thumbnails and sketches, basically the small studies and exploration artists went through (trying different values, composition, colours, etc) before starting on the actual final work.
Also feel free to share any interesting or helpful information/articles on the topic.

Why do you draw porn
I need money and have no morals.
i hear the money game is real
has any porn artists here jacked it to their own work? i figure that you need to make a super quick sketch while you're still horny or else the time spent is just gonna numb you to it and not want to fap anymore
>>2535449
I have never jacked to my work. All I see are the lines I put down and my mistakes.
Getting good should be fun right?
If you think drawing figures is boring, maybe this isn't for you?
>>2530405
actually no and if you take your craft seriously you stop going for the fun aspect and start going for the this needs to be fixed and i will change shit according to feedback tier
>>2530419
this
quit art op
I want to make an art rate app. Literally all you do is submit your art and when people are board they swipe and rate art in the app's associated database, giving people feedback on their work in the process.
What does /ic/ think of this? IMO the ability to gain critique is cumbersome in the online art world, things really need to change if we want to help the skill level increase in the artistic community as a whole.
>>2539204
This is a dumb idea for many reasons
>>2539206
Okay. Please explain.
For the record this wouldn't be a means of getting detailed, well informed critique, just a way of gauging interest/appeal in a general audience without the limits that other types of platforms introduce.
>>2539204
I actually really like this brah. But please don't be one of those "idea" guys that brings this to a developer. Do it yourself or stop talking about it.
How do you deal with loneliness as an artist?
It feels like the past few years, I've been outgrowing some of my old friends who just want to play video games and go out to parties.
I have a couple of art friends, but they only draw fanart or cute things and get pretty bored with their work. They're also not super interested in critiquing or discussing techniques, they just like to draw fanart because it's fun. Which is fine, but it's not very engaging for me.
>>2538711
Drawing 8h/day and then "recovering" surely will make you lonely. It's better to have healthy life and do art than be "misunderstood", suffering artist, the only one who "takes it seriously" and"is going to make it".
I spent all my time either eating, sleeping or drawing. There is no room for social contacts in my schedule anyway.
kek you think I have friends.

good night friends and family
Hey,
need some critiques for my new design.
Those are labels for my homemade liquors.
What do you think?
>>2538774
From a practical perspective, it feels like your negative space flavor indicator (the cherry or peach) would easily be torn, and could afford to be smaller.
The bear doesn't IMMEDIATELY shout out bear if you cut off the ears.
While I alone the font you used for the lgogo, the small text on top of the label, and by extension the min/vol text could afford to be a more readable font.
Other than that, its pretty cool.
clear plastic in the negative shapes bro

All variations here
Dear /ic/,
My fan brush turns into a toothless old lady when I try to use it.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
Cheers
This is what it turns into
>>2538529
Aren't you supposed to keep the bristles dry? and then you just sort of tap/brush the canvas lightly with the tip of it to blend paint that is already down and isn't too thickly laid in.
>>2538533
I don't really know, I've only seen Bob Ross use one of these to paint clouds.
He was loading it with paint and painting directly.
Don't know if it makes a difference that he's using oils and I'm on acrylics either.
I have 12 hours a day to draw. what should i do to fill up that time?
>>2538406
Whatever you're weak at.
>>2538406
Do a variety of things. Do studies from books (anatomy, perspective etc), masters, life, photos. Do creative work as well and practice drawing form imagination. What proportion of what you do is up to you and your interests and goals.
>>2538406
Make it 8h, fill the rest with preparing your own meals, fitness & exercise, gathering visual aids/being "creative", socializing in local art circles/with friends/family/gf. Also 1h nap if yo will feel tired.
You will do x10 more if you will have healthy life.
Has /ic/ ever had work or ideas stolen from them?
Has /ic/ stolen any ideas before?
I'm not talking "inspiration"
A year ago I had a minor idea stolen from me, and it was really frustrating, and annoying, and now I'm going through the same thing except someone actually thought my work was worth tracing
I had some artists agree that this bitch traced me, but some actually tried implying it was "inspired" by my work. I don't call tracings of other peoples work "inspiration", but I wanted to know how /ic/...

Never come up with anything worth stealing.
>>2538180
I would feel honored, but act annoyed cause is the propper reaction
>>2538180
dunno. if it's happened i won't feel too bad about it because all of my ideas are stolen from others. LOL.

Holy shit are you me? I usually listen to Silent Hill 2 Laura's Theme + Always Sunny and sometimes King of the Hill.
I don't know why but those two shows are just fucking perfect to zone out to while still "listening" to them.
Hello /ic/. First time posting here.
I want to improve my drawing skills, but I don't have enough time, so I doodle and try to draw more serious things when I'm free. Usually I draw things from my imagination. I don't want to copy from other pictures, but there's many people who do it and they draw very well as I can see. If I see it convenient, I see references.
The point is that I don't know if I'm doing it right. I mean, when I draw I try to figure out how can I draw that thing, I draw amd keep drawing, then I figure it out and...

why it is so easy to be oblivious to the mistakes or shortfalls of our own work?
>>2538539
Because if you know the exact problem you wouldn't make that mistake.
Also people can tell that their work generally looks "off" or "shit" but they may not know why. I bet you the person who did the pic you posted is well aware it looks terrible.
>>2538542
>Because if you know the exact problem you wouldn't make that mistake.
Patently false, superchief.
>>2538557
some people are cocky cocks that won't admit they're wrong.
Why can't so many artists draws hands or feet?
Nice thread, OP. Last one was dead enough for you?
>>2536150
Because they are highly mobile complex forms consisting of numerous small bones, tendons, and muscles, and everybody has a pair so any errors in it will be very obvious.
Renoir couldn't paint hands for toffee.
