Crash works on big formats, which helps.

over-rendered shit.
Did any of you guys ever take a leap of faith and just quit everything to study art?
i'm about to quit my good paying job as a civil engineer, in order to study art full time.
How stupid is this? How stupid is it not to do it?
I actually like my job too, but it's exetremly demanding and i can't Draw more than about 15 hours a week, which makes me kinda depressed. Lately i've been getting trouble because i can't motivate myself to work anymore, i just wanna Draw.
Had to work 90 hours last week, high stress, no drawing. Now i just...

Ye. It worked. Go for it. Although make sure you follow a schedule and don't fuck around.
> but still... friends and family think a have gone insane, leaving safety for some "dream" they don't understand.
I didn't have anyone that believed me either but ultimately art is a...

I wish you a lot of luck. You are still very young so go for it.
I would like to do the same, but I don't have steady clientele to make the big jump & not enough money saved up yet and debt from student loans.
do it OP, fight for your dreams, you seem like a smart guy, i'm sure you will make it
Hey, /ic/, do you have scans / photos of your old works or anything from the time you were a beginner and your latest piece / something you're particularly proud of?
Show us the progression you've made throught the years or months.
It might be as simple as exercises done better within the span of years/months or firght self-portrait vs latest shaded artwork.

i'd fuck that girl

Me too
So just a normal progress thread ? Do another thread and name it progress thread, a lot of people post on those.
Previous Thread >>2530685
Post your current drawing here and give constructive critique to others!
Please make sure your posted image is clear, downsized to around 1000 pixels wide, rotated to the correct orientation, and that any unused space is cropped.
If you want critique on a drawing from the previous thread, you can delete it there and repost in this one.

Do you fellow anons know where to find any good art contests?
There is something about contest that makes me more motivated, it may be the sense of challenge.
Pic unrelated
Cubebrushes' seem pretty cool, and the league system (gold for pros, silver for hobbyists, bronze for noobies) works really well. The competition is judged by AAA industry artists too, and the sense of community is great.
I went to cubebrush, but it seems the forums are being reworked, damn shame. But those comps are fun.
Bold Brush monthly art competition. It's $14 to enter

Any tips to get a bigger twitter following? I regurlarly get 2-5k impressions per picture but only 5-6 of those become followers. I see plenty of peeps with several k followers is it just mileage? be at it for a long time
thanks
>>2541294
Why do you want a following on twitter? Don't most artists share their work on tumblr and instagram?
>>2541299
Different people use twitter. More banter.
I already have a few thousand followers on tumbl so I want to expand into new frontiers. Funneling people from my tumblr doesnt seem to work.
just looking for tips really

And you come here for tips? Suuuurrreee.
Top kek.
How does /ic/ feel about Micheal Godard?
I want my place decked out in $15,000 canvases. My taste is vanilla as fuck isnt it?
>>2541023
>$15,000
WHoops added an extra zero at the end there. They are going for $1,500 a pop on average.
>>2541023
idk man this looks fucking trash
>I want my place decked out in $15,000 canvases.
Could you be any more shallow?
Go buy an an actual painting you enjoy to look at for reasons other than it's monetary value and when people ask you about it rather than boasting about how much money you have tell them about how you like it.
What are the best resources for learning to draw interiors and scenery? I'm pretty happy with where I'm at right now with drawing characters and objects just sort of floating in space, but I'm absolute shit at doing any sort of background. I know perspective is going to be a thing to work on, but anything you can suggest will be appreciated. Coloring isn't an issue as I mostly work in black and white.
>>2540441
>how do you draw interiors and scenery?
>i can do perspective and color, those will be easy
>asks for environment advice, says fundamentals will be easy
>fundamentals are a part of everything, they have nothing to do with what you are asking
>oh shit, what are you doing...
a-are you ok, anon?
Feng Zhu is pretty good if you already know how to draw, because a lot of his videos are environment-related, and he answers a lot of more advanced art problems. The one downside is he doesn't talk about fundamentals, so you'll learn more from him once you get familiar with environment-related fundamentals (perspective, composition and contrasts are things you can kinda get away without if you only do characters, but definitely need as a generalist.)

I never said anything would be easy, I just said I wanted to prioritize working on the things I feel I am behind on.
Fug I just bought one of these not knowing it was disposable. Is there a cartridge inside if you saw it open that you put a syringe in to refill it? Or is it eyedropper style then I could put a hole in it or saw the end off and find a way to seal it back up once it has more ink in it.
pull off the back of it , it should just pop off then u can put ink into the hole and it will fill it . then pop the cap back onto it. i have one of those .
it might take a little force to pull it out though, if you can pull it or you break the string off try pliers or your teeth but it will pop out.
oh one last thing i forgot, when you fill it hold it over something to catch the drainage from the tip cus it will leak for a little bit to get rid of excess ink, you only need to use a very small amount of ink in it.
go to majestic casual playlist, pick a song with people in it, use picture as study reference for length of the song, post your result

This was my attempt
>>2538619
You need to practice line quality and accurately getting down shapes before moving onto complex stuff man
>>2541076
I acknowledge the fact that my lines are shit and my shapes are a bit off, but adding a little detail helps me see where I am lacking. I dont understand why its so taboo for the inexperienced to try something difficult. It is easier to see your mistakes and there is greater reward for getting it right. Also post your attempt anon
Anyone got any tips/books for learning watercolors? Started doing art more than a year ago doing strictly graphite, and consider myself capable of applying values/drawing. But using color still escapes me.
My normal work, for reference.
When it comes to water color, you're going to want to start from your lightest values/hues to your darkest.
Good book, covers different techniques and suggests paints to use but mainly focuses on portrait, some paintings suffer tumblr nose but they still look good imo.
anyone have critiques for my newest piece?
i am a warhol fan and i like your pic @OP
Warhol was a gleeful person
Fucking warhol, I hope he dies.
/ic/ Gold thread, it's about time we had one.
