The idea s fine but i'd definatley take time refining the lines, even if it is to just be seen as a thumbnail it is better for it to be nice looking as people may look closer and if they are new to your work you will want to make a good impression.

How hard would you practice each day?

What techniques would you study? In what orders?

Which instructors would you watch?

Digital or traditional, or both?

I'd probably just study the old masters and draw everything I could. pencil and papers. Maybe get some animal anatomy books because animal studies are hard.

I do. I'm 18 and I have a year to NEET before I move out and do shit. I could do longer like my siblings did, but then I would feel like a piece of shit for leeching off my parents

FAQ:
Something's broken, what do I do?

>The site is currently in the alpha phase of development and is being built around us as we compete so sometimes things go wrong. If you ever need any help send me a tweet @LavaFlake or shoot me an email [email protected].

What do we draw?

>Whatever you want. At this point there's no required topic so draw your heart out. Make sure you submit at least a half hour of work or you may get a low effort warning.

What's a low effort warning?

>The goal is to get people to draw every day by turning it into a competition. The low effort warning system is to prevent people from posting last minute, quick sketches when they're feeling lazy. If you receive a warning and it happens again within a month you'll be eliminated.

>This rule has been the cause of a lot of concern amongst newer artists so let me reiterate: this system is to police low effort content and has nothing to do with the quality of the work. New artists are more than welcome.

What happens if I'm eliminated?

>A new Last Artist Standing challenge starts every week. If you get eliminated then get it together and rejoin next week.

How can there be a new Last Artist Standing challenge every week?

>This is a way to let new artists join in and to allow re-entry for the eliminated. Every week a new challenge is started. If you joined on week 1 and make it to week 2 then your daily submission counts for both the first and second Last Artist Standing. If you get eliminated then you're eliminated from both challenges and you'll be able to rejoin next week.

Will I have an advantage if I join later in the week?

>The winner of a Last Artist Standing will be the artist with the longest streak. If you join on day 1 and last until day 85 then you'll have a streak of 85. If there's only one person left in the challenge when you're eliminated but they joined on Day 7 then they'll need to continue on for another week. If they're eliminated before then, you win.

Does Draw with Jazza annoy you?

It annoys me because he's not that good and he's built a YouTube career on educating people. Something about his work always looks off. He doesn't seem to have an eye for the more subtle forms and anatomy.

I see a lot of people like this. They've been drawing at the same level for years and years. Does everyone have the ability to reach an Iaian McCaig level of skill?

His art reminds me of something you'd see on a box of children's pencil crayons.

>he's good
Clearly not
>>
>>2463572
he's pretty confident and likeable, and not an awful presenter, and that can make up for a lack of skill, especially when its just youtube. Conversely, you could be doing master-tier work but if you don't put yourself out there, you'll never get noticed

Is there a certain psychological profile that matches a great artist?

There's tons of cliches and stuff written on this by philosophers, and probably no good answer. But I'm interested to see /ic/'s opinion.

Hey everyone! I'm currently a finalist in a contest to meet David Gilmour as well as win a beautiful signature series Fender signed by no other than David himself! I have been inspired by his music all my life and have always considered him my strongest influence as a guitarist. It would be such an honor to be able to meet him and thank him for everything as well as be able to give him this drawing I did that is inspired by a combination of the man himself as well as Pablo Picasso's famous painting "The Old Guitarist". I would so appreciate it if you voted for me by clicking the provided link. Thank you all in advance!

Hey /ic, longish time art student here. I have been studying art for around 6 years now ( drawing, painting, graphics etc) , i have made alot of progress over the years. Sadly i don't have many examples of my artwork other than the 3 pictures i have on my phone from last term. Anyway, i study in a known artschool in eu, and im having some issues that are giving me problems to reach higher. I have zero problems doing studies at school, for example still life, acts, etc, however when it comes down to simply creative work of my own, i hit a brick wall. I often end up just staring at a blank page. Sometimes it feels like my mind is a blank page itself.
I have no idea what causes this, minor drugs, drinking from time to time, traumatic events in family life, past depression, lack of hapiness or love. I love art, and its one of the only things that im good at, but the lack of creative thinking i have experianced lately really brings me down. Has anyone ever had the same situation? How can i get my shit togeather?
