Most NEET losers populating this board dream of making $1000 on patreon and living from making porn commissions and spending 10h/day drawing.

Ask yourself how mentally limited they are and then try imagine those guys and their lives in next 5, 10 and 15 years.

Oh and btw, main reason why most people here won't "git gut" is exactly this - living shit, unremarkable existences where they don't even get the basics because all they see is shit and struggle. I mean, how can you appreciate forms of human body when ultimately you hate people and don't want to interact with them?

Hey /ic/ fellow art fag here. Let me tell you how I fucked up.

> be me
> finals week at college right now
> have to cast something for my final in sculpture
> bring in a bunch of flowers and interesting shit
> proffessor shits all over my objects, they're too hard to cast
> I kinda knew that but I wanted it to be a challenge
> asks if I have any better ideas
> say I saw a dead bird on my way here, but I thought it would be too gross to cast
> he makes me go get it
> I bring it back and he loves it
> mfw I realize this dead bird is my final project
> he tells me I need to find a place to freeze it so I can cast it
> boyfriend lives on campus close to art building
> text him, hey, I'm going to put a dead bird in your freezer
> badidea.mp4
> boyfriend flips
> I'm fucking dumb
> autist brain didn't think it would be a problem for some reason
> inb4 should have asked first
> didn't actually put it in there but he's still pissed
> boyfriend still ignoring me 24 hours later
> fuck
> don't want to cast the bird anymore
> proffessor going to destroy me if I bring in something else next class
> fuckedhard.webm

So /ic/ what should I do so that I don't have to cast this fucking dove anymore. Help me. This is the worst week to get in a fight with boyfriend, and I know he wont want to see my final piece if I do actually cast it.

how do I learn to draw "inorganic" material?

I'm pretty good at drawing humans, animals, plants, landscapes.

But when I try to draw buildings or technology, it looks like fucking garbage.
4 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
You have to be much more precise in your perspective. Ironically, even though artificial structures are usually much simpler, they can be more challenging to draw because everything has to be on point.

A lot can happen in the next few years op, at the moment though it's not looking very good. Perspective and anatomy wise it's super messy. Don't forget your basics and learn them properly.
>>
I spent the last 15 minutes writing a long winded statement about motivations being in the right place and having a job as a main goal being mis-guided but fuck man I dunno, we're all different, who am I to say what you should or shouldn't strive toward?

Anyway, you've got a long way to go. Honestly about 8 years at the least if you work hard at it. You might be at the point where you haven't yet discovered how much there is to learn to become a "good" artist so that may seem like a long time but trust me, there's a lot to learn and a lot for you to figure out about yourself and your art. From my own personal experience I can confirm this and i think I'm what you'd call a "good" artist, If you were to look through my gallery my art from 8 years ago looks about on par with what you've provided.

So I would say don't worry about striving toward a job at the moment, don't even think about it. Focus on improving and finding enjoyment in that process. If you don't enjoy the process of learning and drawing for your own satisfaction you won't want to stick with it. Beyond that, you just have to keep going.

One piece of advice that always helped me is that with every picture you do, every single one, you need to challenge yourself. Strive for a ratio of 60% what you think you're comfortable with and 40% things you find very challenging. IF you feel like you fucked up that 40%, try it again with different subject matter etc. If you fuck up again, move on to something else for the time being and come back to the other later.

Draw a towering figure above the horizon line while successfully foreshortening parts of the figure, be creative with the gesture and put emphasis on the hands as this will help give a strong gesture. Keep the figure as close to life as possible, do not stylize or deviate away from life. Do not be afraid to use classical construction, get to it.

FAQ:
Something's broken, what do I do?

>The site is currently in the alpha phase of development and is being built around us as we compete so sometimes things go wrong. If you ever need any help send me a tweet @LavaFlake or shoot me an email [email protected].

What do we draw?

>Whatever you want. At this point there's no required topic so draw your heart out. Make sure you submit at least a half hour of work or you may get a low effort warning.

What's a low effort warning?

>The goal is to get people to draw every day by turning it into a competition. The low effort warning system is to prevent people from posting last minute, quick sketches when they're feeling lazy. If you receive a warning and it happens again within a month you'll be eliminated.

>This rule has been the cause of a lot of concern amongst newer artists so let me reiterate: this system is to police low effort content and has nothing to do with the quality of the work. New artists are more than welcome.

What happens if I'm eliminated?

>A new Last Artist Standing challenge starts every week. If you get eliminated then get it together and rejoin next week.

How can there be a new Last Artist Standing challenge every week?

>This is a way to let new artists join in and to allow re-entry for the eliminated. Every week a new challenge is started. If you joined on week 1 and make it to week 2 then your daily submission counts for both the first and second Last Artist Standing. If you get eliminated then you're eliminated from both challenges and you'll be able to rejoin next week.

Will I have an advantage if I join later in the week?

>The winner of a Last Artist Standing will be the artist with the longest streak. If you join on day 1 and last until day 85 then you'll have a streak of 85. If there's only one person left in the challenge when you're eliminated but they joined on Day 7 then they'll need to continue on for another week. If they're eliminated before then, you win.

That's not a fedora, it is a tophat.

After years of putting it off, I've decided to kick inertia to the side and finally start practicing drawing. I have a few beginners tutorials set up, I've set a space and a time to practice, I've read up on grips and on how to use your shoulder... but that left me with a question. What hand should I use?

Although I'm a lefty, whenever I've imagined myself drawing I see myself using the right hand for some reason. I read an article a few years ago that stated people should draw with the hand opposite of the one they use to write since, for the brain, writing and drawing are completely different skills. Using the other hand would lead you to develop your skills without the interference of the habits you've developed to help you write.
I can't find this article now, no matter how much I try. All I find are webpages saying you should draw and write occasionally with your other hand to promote brain tissue growth or giving hippie testemonials on how it'll allow you to draw your "inner emotions" better.

At the same time, although I don't want to go pro with my drawing, I also don't want to regret doing it like this five years down the line, when I realize one can never reach the same skill-level with their non-dominant hand as they would have with their dominant one.
Does anyone have any experience on this subject? Can people reach the same level with whatever hand they start drawing with, or would the non-dominant one eventually plateau lower than the dominant one?
