Dory was a great support character. You got to enjoy her quirkiness but she didn't hang around on the screen long enough to wear out her welcome. Now they decided to make an entire movie about her and her gimmick. It's gonna be a disaster, but it will make a shit pile of money anyway, a la Minions.

What are your thoughts on Moana /co/? Do you think it has potential to be great or will just end forgettable?
Depends on how much of the trotting about the Pacific islands chatting with gods stuff has remained intact from the early art.
Given Disney's recent track record, it will probably be decent at worst.
I have no expectations beyond that, but I had no expectations for Zootopia, either.

What does Dynamite typically do with their licensed characters (with few exceptions such as James Bond)? Slap them on miniseries and call it a day.

It's probably cheaper in the end to license a character, and have an amount of sales guaranteed, than create your own (which is free) but have no returns guaranteed.
