What's the difference between olive oil and extra virgin olive oil?
If a recipe calls for olive oil, can I substitute extra virgin olive oil?
>>7262708
You can pretty much substitute any fat for any other fat.
>>7262708
Extra virgin means the grapes matured longer I think
extra virgin is unrefined olive oil.
What do rich people eat?
Subway and McDonald's salads.

I know a family that is incredibly wealthy. They eat filet mignon from Walmart with asparagus 3 nights a week.
Depends if you mean rich and cultured or just rich. I know rich people that live on garbage.
Hey /ck/. I'm going to homeless soon and I won't be staying in one spot. So what are some foods I can buy to take around with me? Preferably cheap since I won't be having much money.
Bread. Canned meats. Canned vegetables.
Anything canned because you can pop it open and it's ready to eat.
>>7262536
Canned meat, trail mix, nigger toes, cheap cereal bars, peanut butter crackers, etc. Pretty much anything you'd consider suitable for a lunch box.
Oh, and find a local homeless shelter you idiot.
>that one recipe you tried because you wanted to make something different for once, but either by your error or the recipe's it turned out horrible
Tell me about it, /ck/. It always makes me feel like such a piece of shit.
Lemon chicken.

My culinary kryptonite is mac n' cheese, and any form of fried potato.
The directions are simple, and I should be able to do it, but it always ends in tears.
>>7262873
>Mac n cheese
Wow I didn't expect this as an answer. Is it the bechamel that stumps you, the adding cheese to taste, what? It's possibly the easiest dish I could imagine.

>Do you want a jar?
>>7262169
Those jars can't possibly be good for the planet, think of the smeltering process.
Pass.
>>7262169
I like the disparaging spin you've managed to put on "eating vegetables and fruit".
It's funny that this stuff makes so many people here mad. How could you care so much?
My god.
The real thing makes such a difference.
I'll never go back to the green can again.

As opposed to...
If you aren't doing dishes immediately after eating then you're doing wrong.
I don't always do them immediately after I eat, sometimes an hour or two later, sometimes if I'm feeling particularly lazy or tired I just rinse them off and leave them in the sink to do the next day.
I never let dirty dishes stack up for days or weeks at a time though.
>>7262068
If you aren't doing dishes while you cook, then you're doing it wrong.
>>7262068
If you are doing dishes instead of having your slave do them for you then you're doing it wrong.
Thoughts on this meme?
>>7262030
Seems pretty cheap and convenient. Honestly, I'd probably be better off drinking it. I'm sure I'm missing a lot of macro and micro nutrients.
they say you can live off soylent and replace all your meals with it. Is this true?
>>7262030
Is there something wrong with his mouth or is he mentally handicapped?
I'm just getting into cooking and I need a proper knife. Until now I've been using a £2 knife from Tesco.
I have no idea where to begin picking knives out. I'm a student on a student budget, so nothing expensive, I just want it to not be a chore to use. Any advice appreciated.
Do you live with other students? Then don't bother. Wait until you have your own place, they will ruin your knives.
>>7262009
We all have our own cupboards, I can put it in there. I can't keep using this £2 knife, it takes me 15 minutes to cut an onion and a red pepper.
>>7262013
Have you considered sharpening it?
Is it really bad to serve frozen meals in a resturant? Im watching kitchen nightmares and gordon ramsey always complains about it.
