Greetings, and welcome to The /x/ Files, the weekly news digest for 4chan's Paranormal board. Every Sunday, we take a quick snapshot of the mysterious world around us and bring it, in an easily readable magazine format, to the board. I am The Editor, the anonymous creator of this idea and collector of the news that will be following below. In the interests of legitimacy, I will be using a secure tripcode to post the thread; once the posts are completed, I will take the tripcode off and return to my anonymity.
Happy 2016 to all my little wendigoes and banshees out in 4chan land! (And if you're a skinwalker, please don't imitate me - I have enough trouble telling myself apart from the evil doppelganger who lives in my bathroom mirror.) Another light news week for the paranormal, but what we've got is packed full of interesting tidbits. Giant sea monsters, ancient bodies giving up their secrets, and NASA throwing their off-world colonization plans into overdrive. All that and the usual suspects of radio show shenanigans, podcast put-ons, and the weekly note from yours truly. But wait! There's more!

Gigantic sea spiders reported at the poles
Scientists have discovered that some species of sea spider have been growing to abnormally large sizes. Giant sea spiders have long puzzled scientists, who have been unable explain why there are so many examples of Polar gigantism. In a recent study, a team of researchers suggested it may have something to do with the oxygen levels in very cold water. Sea spiders are actually arthropods known to exist in the Arctic and Antarctic Oceans, as well as the Caribbean and Mediterranean seas, and are not actually related to arachnids. There are more than 1,300 known species of them, and they range in size from 1 mm to more than 90 cm.

Signs of heart disease found in mummies
Heart disease, the leading cause of death in the US, is often blamed on modern diets and a sedentary lifestyle. According to this thinking, if only people ate the “right” foods and exercised more, they could live longer. But examinations of the mummies from Kagamil, a small volcanic island in the Bering Sea, and other pre-modern people, indicate that the modern scourge of heart disease is not at all new, and that people who exercised more than we do as a matter of necessity, also suffered striking levels of heart disease, according to researchers.

NASA ordered to develop 'habitation module'
American space agency NASA has been asked by Congress to accelerate the development of a “habitation module” that would be used to take astronauts on deep space missions, emerging reports say. In mid-December, NASA ISS director Sam Scimemi described plans to start testing a habitation module in the 2020s. But Congress wants the agency to pull in that timeline by many years. US lawmakers passed a spending bill that increased funding for NASA by $1.3 billion for 2016. It also directed the space agency to build a prototype habitation module for deep space missions within no later than 2018.

Scientists aim to scrap the Gregorian Calendar by 2017
If Richard Henry had his way, we wouldn’t be celebrating the New Year quite yet. The Johns Hopkins University physics and astronomy professor along with his colleague Steve Hanke, an economics professor, have come up with a calendar they believe would simplify scheduling once and for all. In the Hanke-Henry Permanent Calendar, every date would fall on the same day of the week every year. The pair want their calendar adopted worldwide by January 1, 2017 - the next time that New Year’s Day falls on a Sunday. The pair say their calendar improves upon previous efforts because it preserves the 12 month, seven-day week idea, while eliminating what they call “calendar confusion.” Because the days don’t jump around from year to year in their version, scheduling for things like holidays, sporting events and university start dates would only need to be planned once and then never changed. Christmas, for example, would always be on a Sunday.

The police or nasa should investigate this. Why in hell would they know about this sort of behaviour and let it happen? I don't feel safe
Hello.
I am looking this morning for opinions, personal stories, and criticisms on my current project that I am considering undertaking. I have in my possession (not far out of reach of yours for google provided it interestingly, this digital age makes obtaining information so much easier) sigils of some entities. These entities are in charge of an array of items paranormal, supernatural, and ethereal.
Currently in a point in my life where I feel now may be the time to begin enlisting help of this nature.
when a response is received, more information will be divulged. Feel free to question me as well.
The first Image is one Sigil. Image Related.
>>17167127
To be completely honest, OP, I have no idea what the fuck you're talking about. From what I gather from Google, "sigil" is Latin for "seal", but what would anyone want this that?
Pardon the autism.
>>17167141
No autism.
Folder images are saved in is titled Seal
Why anyone would want as many answers.
perhaps this page will provide useful answers to your question. and hopefully spur further discussion.
ask again if prefer not to read.

This hoax was posted a couple of years ago in social medias and on news sites...
Too many people know me in this town I have never seen in my life. I hear people saying my name and/or wondering if I can hear them. I don't have many people on my Facebook, I don't have any other social media accounts but for some reason people repeat shit I say not only on social media, they'll repeat something I say to myself quietly, or even begin to start a conversation about something I am currently writing about on my phone in public. I don't know how my brain is leaking anything and everything I say. I don't know who or what it is but I'll find out somehow or another. Some days I feel the whole world watching me. Why? Fucking.. why? What possible reason could that be what it is? Maybe it's some type of reverse catfish, an underground roasting, or something else. Who the fuck is running this peep show? I don't have schizophrenia, because I have seen and heard things that I can confirm with human interaction and retort. Maybe I am in a coma. Maybe I have a doppelgänger. Maybe I stray at night. I don't know. All I know is that even in complete silence I'll have issues with a crowd in my vicinity. Maybe my mind is just jumbling things together and making me hear what I want to hear. Sometimes it's impossibly unmistakable though. Maybe I have some sort of brain power but have no idea how to control it. My mind might be an open book. If that's the case I'll just off myself somehow. Though if it's just some sort of roasting site I will literally fucking kill people. Anyone who knows me, knows I am more than capable. You can't keep me in the dark forever.

Schizophrenia. Get meds. Stat. srs
nah because this fuckin dude came up to me and almost spilled the beans tryin to tell me I looked like this dude who "blank" and his gf called him back to the car because she threatened him, not me. There was this other time where my friend recited word for word a song I had recently written by myself with no one else around, a distinct tune and beat and he was able to spit that shit out of his mouth drunk as fuck playing beer pong when he thought I wasn't listening on the porch. I heard and saw him say it, and even the people playing beer pong laughed.
Does anyone else have dreams that then come true? It's like Deja Vu, but different; Deja Vu is just a trick of the mind, but you know that. You realize it. I've had it before; everyone has.
But then I sleep and I have these weird, semi-realistic dreams. Then anywhere between a few days to a few weeks later, they happen in real life and I can remember every detail of the dream and compare it.
Is this an actual thing?
I'm not RPing here either, like this shit actually happens. Is it some weird psychological thing or there a real explanation?
Yeah... Just last night though and then I think it'll come true soon, I feel it, greentext time:

I had a dream of my ex before she left me. Pissed off at me in the dream snd real life. I miss her badly.
I've had this my whole life and in the past few years its gotten to the point I know what people are about to say, because I remember it quickly enough.
Okay this is getting weirder, for the past few weeks I keep seeing the number 27
When I look at the clock, plate of a car and pire tags etc.
Does this have a deep meaning or it's all just a weird coincidence?

SCP stands for Secure Contain Protect and there basically a bunch of anomalies that are kept out of the public for safety reasons. The SCP wiki should have more info

so for the past week or so, I've been having dreams of a character from Undertale, which have actually been kind of nice. Each of these are just me cuddling with (pic related), and throughout the dream he rambles about being from another planet. I can't say I played the game that much, or think much about the character outside of the dreams. These have been happening almost every night, and as nice as they are, they're kind of starting to make me feel really weird. Is this just something I should keep quiet about? Should I just ignore it? Any possible explanations?
I don't see any trouble with that... Unless you're a guy.
See if you can't get him to pound you.
Especially if you're a guy.

After how ever many weeks that was on /his/ we finally copped a ban, so I guess esoterica's going to be gently directed back here.
I've made at least two updates to the library, they can be found, should you remotely care, here: https://desustorage.org/his/, and I'm working on a document with the updates in them to post in the usual folder, I just need to get around to it.
Lots of chatter about Lemegeton, and a few folks talking about DBoE here and there.
