exactly? they tell you the file size.
no, seriously. the bitrate tells you the rate of bits per second (usually annotated in kbps = kilo bits per second). given a song length in seconds it tells you the final file size.
if we have a song of 2min = 120s, at 320 kbps the file will be 38,400 kilobit, divide by 8 for kilobyte: 4,800 kB large (give or take with headers, etc).
what it means in terms of audio quality is far far more murky. one thing is clear: within a given codec (eg mp3) bigger numbers = better quality. the more bits per second are available for audio...

I'm kind of upset that you or whoever you got the list from included Houkago no Pleiades in this list of bad anime. The 4-episode ONA was legitimately terrible, but the TV series was actually pretty enjoyable. The soundtrack, characters, and amount of detail in the science were all great.
Is MyAnimeList the best site of its kind?
The only other site like it that I know of is Hummingbird, but I don't use it so I can't claim to its efficacy in managing anime lists.
It'd be hard to top MAL's anime tracking system though, best you could hope for is to equal it. There's lots of other categories to compete in though. MAL's database of shows is pretty comprehensive, but its details and info about them is not. Most of the summaries are just a few sentences copy-pasted from ANN or IMDB, if that. Definitely continue with End of Evangelion. It's a much more proper end to the series than 25/26 for people not really into the deep and metaphorical stuff. The animation is fantastic and action is great.
And like the other anon mentioned, the Rebuild movies aren't a part of the original canon, they're remakes (rebuilds). They're more action-y and don't delve as deeply as the original series + movie do into the characters and story which are more like caricatures, but they're...
