it's awesome imo. it has a slow start, but once you're in the groove of things it really becomes insanely fun. definitely buy if you're a fan of D2. it's on sale now right? better now than later. it's about to get out of it's early access phase too.

I'd wait a bit since the game isn't completely done. It's basically 90% done and rather stable in it's current state, but full release is right around the corner (or so the devs say).
Devs are adding a fuck load of gear and a new leveling system that basically changes the way you make your builds. Sure they'll add that in, balance it out, finish up the final act, and bam; full release.

/v/ has the worst taste imaginable if they think this is some marked improvement over the GBA/NES versions. Especially when there are quality SNES JRPGs that one could be playing like Bahamut Lagoon or Glory of Heracles 3

The Earthbound one made sense to repost repeatedly because it's a game with a large fanbase and posting the same shitty thread repeatedly would get probably bait a lot of replies, but the fact that you're doing it again for FF1 of all games is just baffling.

7-8/10 game.
Gameplay system's solid.
Music's fucking great.
Humor is hit or miss, usually miss come Hotlands.
Only real issues I had with the game were the fast travel and inventory systems.
You should be able to pirate an .exe for it somewhere, but I don't have the link to it.

Is Pokemon the most complicated rpg out there. When you think about iv's, ev's, the type matchups and the most complicated breeding system to come it really seems that way, but it still gets labeled as babbys first rpg

The breeding isn't that complicated, you just take good babies and keep making them fuck their parents for generations until you manage to get the IVs you want. More tedious than anything.

I've been playing through some older jrpgs, recently FF3, and I've realized that I enjoy these kinds of games more when the focus is on how you can customize your party and abilities to overcome the challenges thrown at you rather than follow a story.
So recommend games to me please. I don't want to see googly anime eyes if I can avoid it too.

You want dungeon crawlers then. No real story, character creation for all party members, focus is on resource management and fights.
Try Etrian Odyssey or SMT: Strange Journey.
Labyrinth of Touhou 2 is pretty good about this.
A large portion of it is overcoming difficult bosses through your team loadout.
It also rewards you for being at a level where you're up for a real challenge, and you can freely set everyone's level down.
It's inspired by Etrian Oddyssey, but it isn't unforgiving.
There's also Genius of Sappheiros, also a Touhou fangame, which is long, challenging, and also very customizable.
Get the Devil of Decline patch, it makes the experience better. Also allows easy mode if you like.

Okay, I just had a copy of this fall in my lap.
I tried the first one back when it came out. While it seemed to get a lot of praise, it felt boring, bland and uninspired to me. Granted I had just finished tons of Demon's Souls.
So I never got more than a couple hours into the first, heard the second sucked. Is this one really a solid, worthwhile 60+ hour experience? Unique enough? Or more just a pretty blend of wrpg/fantasy tropes with Bioware narrative?

The best review I could give it was it wasn't as great as Origins, but it was way better than DA2.
gameplay wise its alright, but kind of dull, rumors how they originally were planning an MMO with the engine but swiftly converted it to DAI seems likely based on most of the sidequests.
