if a game has prone/crawling/standing then i use C and X keys for both of those. i use Z if i have to to reset back to standing (if the game allows for that)
If the game only has a single crouch position i just use ctrl.
in games like crysis, where you need to run and crouch to slide, it makes sense.
Unless left Alt is taken, it's usually better nine times outta ten.
